The best part about Dame coming back is we get all the Nate Jones and Chris Haynes content again!!! Yay!
It’s just a game and how people enjoy their team is a matter of personal taste. Some folks don’t want to buy an expensive team and suddenly have sky high expectations of them going into a season. A lot of blazers fans are metaphorical gardeners: we wanna plant some seeds and watch them grow and see what we get. Maybe it’s because the 1989-90 team was mostly grown out of the draft. Maybe it’s wanting to get in on something good on the ground floor. Maybe it’s wanting to cook a homemade meal rather than order from a restaurant. It is what it is.
Correct imo, the only reason I could see him wanting a no trade clause is because new ownership coming in, most the time equals new GM and front office, thus not being loyal to Dame and potentially trading him down the road etc.
The NTC being part of the contract transfers if the player is traded. I agree it’s meaningless, it simply means we couldn’t trade Dame anywhere he didn’t want to go. Agree we’re not trading him. I think he retires here now. I’m still shocked and elated, I didn’t think he was going to sign here. How are the people that were hating on him for the way he left feeling about the way he came back?
Yeah the no trade clause is chef’s kiss honestly. The deal is dirt cheap already and all that’s left to decide is if Dame wants to play one more year beyond that. Simple and positively structured.
the player option lets him opt out and resign for less money to give team cap flexibility to help us win more rings
I I think it’s beautiful him and Cronin made amends for the bigger picture of the Blazers. It’s an epic love story and restores my faith a bit in the narrative here in relations to all of the bandwagoners trading Dame casted off.
Are we dreaming? Did we all take the red pill? I am just soaking this up right now. Don’t pinch me. “It’s a great day to be a Blazer!”
Portland traded Damian Lillard for Jrue Holiday, Toumani Camara, assets in 2023 - then Holiday to Boston for Robert Williams III, Malcolm Brogdon, assets (one led to Deni Avdija). Now, Blazers have Lillard and Holiday, plus Avdija, Williams, Camara, a 2029 first, two MIL swaps.
I don't like this because he's a traitor...but.... Can someone clarify? someone earlier in the thread that his deal may hamstring us to giving Deni an extension? Does anyone know if thats true?
Craziest thing is that I went into drop off some mail from work last Friday and the dude tells me Blazers got Dame back. He said it was a 5 year 65mil deal and I was shocked then and immediately went on to try to find sources (this site of course) and saw nothing. I looked and looked and again just the speculation that Boston and maybe Blazers, etc. Now a week later and it actually happened? Maybe now I have a sauce….mailman for the win and we ain’t talkin’ Malone. #MailWizard
I haven't agreed with everything Cronin does (and thats fine, folks). But this is awesome. Nice work, Cronin.
out: Nurkic, Little, Simons, Keon in: Lillard, Holiday, Avdija, Camara, Williams, 1RP, 2 swaps Cronin masterpiece
