Except for a $100M bill for a player no longer on the roster.

It will be crazy when we're rooting against the Bucks in 2030 because we have their swap that they'll still have $29 million in dead salary from our Dame contract.

Why would we wait until 2030 to be rooting against the Bucks? We potentially have control of their pick in 2028, but we for sure do in 2029 and 2030 drafts.

We need them to have mediocre/disappointing seasons for the next 2 years - so they blow it up prior to the 2027-28 season.

That's the point, we want them to be mildly successful so they do not blow it up too early and start their rebuild too early. Imagine if they started their rebuild early and by the time Portland gets their picks they are somewhat respectable...

Oh for sure.... I just meant it will be crazy that in 2030 we will STILL be rooting against the Bucks for a 2023 trade to be paid off of a player on their cap they cut 5 years prior.

Id say we want them to NOT trade Giannis. By 2027-28 he may have far less trade value, or even no value considering his supermax contract. That with their dead cap and a decade of no draft picks could slot them at the top of the lottery those 3 years similar to Boston getting Tatum&Brown from the Nets.

If they trade Giannis now their certainly getting some young talent. But every year they don't has that value eroding away. Giannis declines and it craters like a penny stock.

I agree, that's why I don't mind Dame's "higher" salary since it gives them some cap relief for 2 years, maybe delaying his trade request...

To me, it's absolutely a haul. Not counting the Ant trade, which I absolutely like for us...

We traded pick #11 and Ayton
    for
A 9-time allstar and top 75 all time nba player (Damian Lillard) (used money from Ayton buyout)
    Hansen Yang
    future 1st
    2 future 2nds.
Increased playing time for Clingan (no one mentions this, but it's HUGE)
Increased playing time for Yang (this could also be big)

Not only did we get a big haul, we got a big haul for Deandre Fuckin' Ayton.

Let's summarize the Damian Lillard trade:

The Celtics got a championship out of it.

The Blazers still have Toumani Camara, Deni Avdija & Robert Williams and got Damian Lillard & Jrue Holiday back, plus future draft assets

The Suns still have Grayson Allen, at least.

The Bucks have no one and have nothing to show for, they also lost significant draft capital

I don't think people should include Jrue. He was completely separate. He was from the Simons trade. Not at all related to Dame.

again....Blazers would not have had a chance at this supposed haul if they didn't have Dame to trade

and they wouldn't have Dame if they hadn't had Gerald Wallace to trade

and they wouldn't have had Gerald Wallace if they didn't have Joel Przybilla to trade

so the flow chart starts with the Vanilla Gorilla

So we should include Dame's mom in the haul because she brought him into this world?

Simons has nothing whatsoever to do with any of the Lillard transactions. Not one thing.

The Blazers traded Simons for Jrue and picks. That's it. Completely separate transactions.

No picks. Just Jrue for Simons straight up.

Pryz? Damn I thought you were wrong but yes looked that up your right. We also gave up two firsts that eventually became Tobias Harris and Shabazz Napier.

Pryz was just salary filler though.

l think Jrue should be included...just makes it all the more remarkable.

Also might be an indirect way the trades are related.
