I kinda feel like we got multiple time lines going again. You know what would make all this real weird? Convincing LeBron to lift his no trade clause to come here. I don’t want this just saying.
I posted a bit above - but its actually not flat ... It's closer to 22 this season but then 20.5 or so the following 4 years.
I get it. But we have a whole season for that. There's time. Giannis won't leave this season. He's under contract another 3 seasons. This is something we need to play by ear.
This meme is all over the place.... they have Brogdon and Deni both listed... but not the two picks from Boston.
yeah not only that but the 5th year advantage might be overstated. Deni will be 31 when a 4th year ends, Unless he's planning on retiring, he would get that 5th season, and more from another team too. And his agent might advise him he'd have a little better chance at a larger contract 'last' contract when he's 31 than when he's 32 obviously there's some risk involved. The hypothetical 4th and 5th seasons are 7 and 8 years away. But if Deni is unsatisfied in Portland I don't believe that 5th year will give the Blazers much leverage. The 8% vs 5% step raise differential might be a bigger factor, but again, he'll be UFA and anything can happen
I'm talking about how teams can re-sign guys who are about to become free agents, before free agency starts.
Its much easier that way because: - We dont have to act (we're not good actors) - We dont have to plan any conversation - It doesnt become stale like shows that use the same manufactured formula do Much easier that way. So its funny to see people think we craft narratives for views. Kissing the organizations ass at every turn may have been better for us.
Teams can talk to their own player the week prior to Jun30 after the finals. The actual signing of contracts is the same time for all teams.
