I've flipped on this after the Dame signing. I now wouldn't do that deal for Grant. I'm actually excited to see what Grant brings next season. He's a good follower but not a leader. It was a problem when he was a big3 alpha with Ant Ayton. But now he will defer to Dame who he's very close to. I think he accepts more roles and may have a bounce back season. We really won't have much cap benefit from dumping Grant contract the next two summers. Id rather just see how Grant plays. I mean if we can get a FRP then sure trade him. Sounds like we extensively shopped him and would have had to attach a FRP instead.
So many Jrue to Lakers shit on Twitter right now. I hate Lakers fans. With that said we win the above trade.
Notice what forwards Dame mentioned by name and which ones he didn't? I'm interested to see how the season plays out. Grant could be a 6MOTY quality player if he fully embraced that role. Vandy might be 3rd string here.
Grok is artificial unintelligence. The Lakers aren't going to give us two of their starters for Jrue, they definitely wouldn't throw in a FRP... let alone a first round pick they owe to the Jazz. SMH
If we can get either of their FRP or Reaves that's great value. I'd have been ecstatic to get either for Ant. I very much doubt that's available. I don't see the Lakers blowing all their possible cap space to take on Jrue deal plus give us valuable assets.
Supposedly Luka has said Jrue is the person that guards him the best and he can’t believe Jrue doesn’t have a DPOY. I’m curious how far LA will go to get Luka signed.
Definitely wasn't aimed at you. Just weird that X's AI throws out a trade that so obviously benefits us and has a pick in it that the Lakers already traded away. Fingers crossed that Pelinka is as dumb as Grok and gives us Rui (who they don't have a replacement for to start at forward next to LeBron), Reaves and a top 5 protected FRP. I'd be ecstatic, even if it was just to flip those two guys mid season.
The thing I liked most about the press conference is you can see how real he is. So many players are manufactured or scripted, he's not.
Yes, and I thought the presser was really good..... but just one little thing I want to point out. He never acknowledges that he asked to be traded. He kept saying that he never wanted to leave. He said there was miscommunication and misunderstanding. It just seemed like he never owned up to the fact that he asked to leave.
Disagree - it would've been odd if he said any of that. I'm pretty sure he felt pushed to request a trade. I think now he just has turned the page on that chapter and didn't want to get into details of it which seems like the smart approach. NBA also has strict rules that players and reps can't request a trade publicly. I'm not sure Dame has ever publicly acknowledged it or that he even still can.
Sure but the way he kept saying he never wanted to leave, it just felt like he was putting it entirely on the Blazers.
