    But does HE want that? That's all that matters.

    Now THIS is a hot take. Let’s get a thread going about this in the main forum. Blazers related somehow

    Hot takes should be controversial. Surely this is just common sense?

    Thread-relevant comment. My conspiracy theory is that 90% of Joe's motivation in re-signing Dame is that the pressure would be off him about Jerami because he can just basically say "well I can't trade Dame's best buddy, can I?"

    Why would Joe care about "pressure"?

    my current thought is that the blazers are not clearing paths for them, they want them to fight through it, and they will extend both of them, and they'll deal with the cap fallout, or trading them, later (like they did with tisse and jerami).

    I don't think signing Dame had anything to do with Grant. However, I do think it could help
    Grant buy-in to how Chauncey wants to use him.

    His exit interview seemed to indicate he wanted out because of it. However, moving him to another team does not look promising.
    But he is still a talented player, so if we can't trade him, he needs to accept his role. Maybe Dame can help with that.

    Maybe the Blazers and Heat are finally past the bad blood from two years ago?

    A deal like this might make sense if the Heat think they can contend in that laughably weak eastern conference.

    Maybe Detroit wants to move on from Harris - supposedly they thought well of Grant when he was on the team previously;

    Kings are still just below the luxury tax even taking on the extra cost of Grant deal;

    Might need to wait until Dec15 until a $2 mil salary can be thrown in to get this to balance;

    Basically all those trades save the Blazers significant salary in year 2-3. Maybe those trade partners could become desperate enough to consider Grant an upgrade.

    I still have this feeling that Joe is going to finally fulfil his promise to Dame and make an all-in trade. (If Dame actually looks like Dame in a year)

    And I think Jerami stays on the team.

    Only type of all-in trade I can see that might make us a contender is giving the Bucks all their picks, a couple other picks, maybe one of Scoot/Sharpe for Giannis.

    Other than that we probably need multiple moves. Maybe a part of it could be acquiring a Bridges/Siakam/etc type. But we probably also need some of our youth to take a big step forward. Then as you say Dame also needs to come close to being fully recovered.

    Pairing Dame and Giannis again just seems so...... pointless. They didn't mesh at all.

    Dame had an interview a few days ago where he was super happy with the performance of him and Giannis - just points out that they never were healthy in the playoffs. Reading between the lines they also didnt have the needed role players that it looks like we may be able to have here.

    I just struggle to identify a "all in" type player that would make sense. None of the guards make sense with Dame. There are almost no dominant centers and certainly none expected to be available soon. Sabonis/KAT are too bad defensively to make sense with Dame. Maybe a Siakam type or Mikal Bridges type of wing would be the "all in" type move.

    I wonder if Embiid could be one option. He's just so unhealthy.

    The guy I would LOVE to get is Jokic but they did a really good job of rebuilding this summer.
