That Duck shot from down under, and the caption, made me LOL. One thing though: The Stanford Cardinal is a color, not a bird.
in the age of NIL and the transfer portal, I don't get excited by a verbal commit 17 months before his LOI date
As a Duck fan posting in a thread largely about Duck recruiting, I like it when a top HS recruit like Tony Cumberland or Tradarian Ball commit a year+ out. Not only does it represent talent being added to my rooting interest, it helps get the ball rolling for the class giving kids considering the Ducks another peer recruiter. Sure they could move on prior to enrolling, but the vast majority of verbals stick. It's also nice here to see the new WR coach Ross Douglas continue the recruiting momentum that previous WR coach Junior Adams established... the room is stacked. Bowman chose Oregon notably over Texas, Ohio State, Georgia & Michigan & had 30+ reported offers. STOMP
A few big verbals considering Oregon loom in the near future. 5* Alabama DE Tank Jones is supposed to announce any day, & August 2nd brings the scheduled announcements of high 4*s California DB Devon Benjamin & Georgia DT/DE Duece Geralds. Maybe I'm reading into the tea leaves a bit & I'm seeing things colored by my fandom, but both Benjamin and Geralds may be tipping their cards in their respective social media announcement posts STOMP
Some late predictions coming in for Oregon for 5* Alabama DE Anthony Jones who is committing tomorrow... STOMP
more Duck predictions have come in for Jones... his announcement should happen 10:30-11ish this morning. Also seeing only Duck predictions from the sites coming in for Geralds and Benjamin's Saturday announcements. We've seen predictions turn out to be wrong many times but usually the late ones carry more accuracy. I feel like I've had too much coffee... Woot Woot! 5-star Anthony Jones – July 31 Gorney: I’ve thought all along that Alabama would eventually land the five-star in-state edge rusher from Mobile (Ala.) St. Paul’s Episcopal – and his dad is a big Bama fan – but after multiple visits there, Jones never pulled the trigger. With his decision coming Thursday, it looks like Oregon is the team to beat. There’s a long way to go to signing day but it looks like he’s headed to Eugene. Jones is expected to talk to all three coaching staffs on Wednesday night. Simmons: Alabama has always been viewed as the team to beat as Jones’ childhood dream school, but Oregon got him out there multiple times including for a game, stayed on him and showed him the plan. Dan Lanning is a defensive-minded coach and Jones’ relationship with Tosh Lupoi helped the Ducks make the charge. Wiltfong: Jones has a top three of Alabama, Oregon and Texas A&M and has given all three programs reasons to be optimistic. My intel going into decision day slightly favors the Ducks with the Aggies the biggest challenger. 4-star CB Davon Benjamin – Aug. 2 Gorney: After talking to Benjamin at the Mission Viejo tournament a few weeks ago, I was convinced Michigan was a major threat to land the No. 1 cornerback but it looks like the Wolverines will finish in a close second place. Oregon has been the front-runner for years and I’ve been told the Ducks got this one done. We’ll see in a few days. Simmons: Oregon has been the team to beat from the beginning of his recruitment. At different times, we saw other schools as the top competition and even a school or two grabbed the momentum but Oregon has stayed consistent. Michigan is viewed as the biggest competition but the Ducks have a lot that appeal to Benjamin and we expect Lanning’s program to be tough to beat. Wiltfong: Oregon has always been the front-runner. With that, he’s gone through the process making sure he turned over every rock at other top schools. Michigan and Texas have been the biggest challengers down the stretch but I like the Ducks. 4-star DL Deuce Geralds – Aug. 2 Gorney: It would be so tempting to pick LSU here and it would make so much sense. He was born there, it’s his hometown and he still has connections to the area plus by going to play for the Tigers he’d be playing SEC ball like his father did at Ole Miss. But most signs are pointing to Oregon as the Ducks have moved to the top and could be in for a huge haul over the coming days. Simmons: Oregon has been trending and the Ducks are the favorite to land Geralds after talking with sources but LSU and Ole Miss continue to be in the discussion. Like it was reported recently, LSU is viewed as the top competition for Oregon. Geralds has family in Louisiana, he grew up a fan of the Tigers and the SEC school will be one to watch until he makes the announcement. At this time, Oregon is the one LSU is working to overtake. Wiltfong: My Rivals prediction is currently on the Ducks but LSU is making it very interesting going into Saturday’s decision. STOMP

When your state has just over 1% of the country's population and African Americans make up only 2% of that number, you're not exactly a recruiting hotbed. Scott Frost had some thoughts on this... STOMP
I know they've a few, I thought you were saying too few which has been a complaint in the past. Personally I don't really care where they pull kids from as Ducks are Ducks. Nothing to see here, carry on... STOMP
