    True

But he will also look weak to the people of Russia. I guess he can throw some more people out of windows and scare them enough to overcome that.

After saying he would resolve the war in Ukraine before even being sworn in, Trump now says it is complicated and he hopes for territorial swap "or whatever".

I'm sure Putin is shaking in his boots.

True. Russia will attack Europe if it is allowed to take Ukraine.

The best plan is to help Ukraine defend itself and make it too costly for Russia to attack anyone else. If they never get past Ukraine they'll never get around to attacking Europe.

How do you think Putin will react to the US providing unlimited lethal weapons through NATO, to Ukraine? Is he a threat to unleash Nukes or is he ready to negotiate an end to the war?

We'll never know, since Trump wouldn't dream of doing that.

If you read the whole article sound as if trump has reversed the pause that sos issued. Trump knows he can increase NATO's economic participation by selling them arms, earmarked for Ukraine. Im good with it if means defeating putins aggression and stoping the war. Or he may look at it as his last hurrah the launch nukes?

Call me a cynic, but I think Friday Trump and Putin will jointly announce that Zelensky is a bad bad man and can't be trusted with weapons.

After inviting Putin to meet in Alaska, senile rapist said he is going to Russia. Does he plan to give Russia Alaska as well as Eastern Ukraine?
Also blamed Zelensky for the war.
Ambassador Witless said Russia had earned Ukrainian territory in battle.

Trump Reportedly Offering Putin Natural Resources Off Alaska Sparks Fury

A report that President Donald Trump is preparing to offer Russian President Vladimir Putin economic incentives to encourage him to end the war in Ukraine—including opening up access to natural resources off Alaska's coast—has sparked anger online.
The Daily Telegraph reported that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is exploring the economic trade-offs the U.S. can make with Russia in order to facilitate a ceasefire and peace agreement.

These include giving Putin access to the rare earth minerals in the Ukrainian territories Moscow partially occupies, as well as opportunities to tap into the natural resources in the Bering Strait between Alaska and Russia's eastern coast.

There has been no confirmation that such a proposal is on the table, and Newsweek has contacted the White House and the office of Alaska's governor for comment. The Telegraph cited a White House statement that it did not comment "on deliberative conversations that may or may not be happening."

But social media users have responded with anger at the prospect of opening up Alaska's natural resources to Russian interests, including Trump critic and former GOP representative Adam Kinzinger who posted on X: "Let's see republicans defend this."

    Why It Matters
Trump's America First policy has seen him strike mineral deals with Ukraine and Kazakhstan. While the Telegraph report has not been verified and there are few details, the prospect of opening up resources near Alaska to Putin would bolster Russia's strategic interests in the Arctic region.

    What To Know
Trump will meet Putin at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska on Friday as the U.S. leader hopes for a breakthrough in the three-and-a-half-year war, following previous negotiations involving his envoy Steve Witkoff and the Russian president's rejection of a U.S. ceasefire proposal.

On Wednesday, Trump warned Russia would face "very severe" consequences if it did not stop its war.

The Telegraph report said he would present Putin with commercial opportunities in occupied Ukrainian territory as well as the Bering Straits, and that Bessent was exploring the economic trade-offs the U.S. could make with Russia—such as lifting American sanctions on Russia's aviation industry—to expedite a peace deal.

Ukraine is estimated to hold 10 percent of the world's reserves of lithium—which is used in the production of batteries— and two of its largest lithium deposits are in Russian-occupied territory. Meanwhile, the area beneath the Bering Straits is thought to hold significant undiscovered oil and gas reserves.

Pretty obvious putin wants Ukraine and establishment of ussr. If he takes Ukraine he get a the Ukrainian Army which is significant. Europe cannot allow that to happen.

Compare red carpet treatment of Putin to public scolding of Zelensky. Putin rode in presidential limo, almost never happens. Fighter jet display. Let Putin speak first at so called news conference so he set agenda, with no questions. Putin had been international pariah, now he can say he is equal of US. No cease fire. No sanctions. Remember that deadline Trump set?

After Meeting Putin, Trump Reverts to Land Swaps for Peace in Ukraine
The U.S. president’s latest statements are a reversal of much of what he seemed to have agreed to with European allies this past week.

President Trump told European leaders after his meeting with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia on Friday in Alaska that he supported a plan to end the war in Ukraine by ceding unconquered territory to the Russian invaders, rather than try for a cease-fire, according to two senior European officials who were briefed on the call.

Mr. Trump will discuss that plan with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine on Monday at the White House, and European leaders are invited to come along, the officials said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss private talks.

After his meeting with Mr. Putin, Mr. Trump has dropped his demand for an immediate cease-fire and believes a rapid peace treaty can be negotiated, so long as Mr. Zelensky agrees to cede the rest of the Donbas region to Russia, even those areas not occupied by Russian troops.

Mr. Zelensky and the European leaders have strongly opposed such a concession of unoccupied land, which also contains important defensive lines and is mineral rich. Ukrainian officials have said that a final deal cannot involve Kyiv agreeing to cede any Ukrainian sovereign territory permanently, which would violate the Ukrainian Constitution.

In return, Mr. Putin offered a cease-fire in the rest of Ukraine at current battle lines and a written promise not to attack Ukraine or any European country again, the senior officials said. They pointed out to Mr. Trump that Mr. Putin often broke his written commitments.

It will be up to Ukraine to make decisions on its territory, the officials emphasized, adding that international borders must not be changed by force.

Mr. Trump did not mention during the call imposing any further sanctions or economic pressure on Russia, the officials said. But the European leaders emphasized that they would continue sanctions and economic pressure on Russia until the killing stops, one official said.

White House officials did not respond to a request for comment.

On a more positive note, the European officials said, Mr. Trump said that Mr. Putin agreed that Ukraine should have strong security guarantees after a settlement, but not under NATO. American troops might participate, Mr. Trump told the Europeans.

Mr. Putin also asked for guarantees for Russian to become an official language again in Ukraine and security for Russian Orthodox churches, the officials said.

Mr. Trump said he was hopeful on getting a trilateral meeting with Mr. Putin and Mr. Zelensky, the officials said. But Mr. Putin has so far refused to meet with Mr. Zelensky, considering him an illegitimate president of an artificial country.
