That team competition they got rid of a long time ago was one of the best competitions during All-Star week. A current NBA player, A retired NBA player, and a WNBA player.

They are really dropping the ball by not bringing that back.

Reggie, Haliburton, and Clarke? Sign me up.

It would be interesting if it were a 3-Pt contest, Dunk Contest, and Skills contest together. But you’d also probably see a lot of the current players in the dunk contest cause the OG’s aren’t dunking anymore.

Yes I know this is the baseball thread… Why are we talking about this here?

What team would Carmelo Anthony appear for? Could it be the Blazers? Dame, Melo, WNBA player from the Fire.

    Melo, Chauncey, WNBA player

    Melo, Knicks player, WNBA player

Kiyan Anthony, Carmelo Anthony, WNBA player

Because I posted something about the home run derby being more interesting than the dunk contest.

His opinion on the riots might be just as off base as some other guys opinion about baseball being 'on its deathbed' but we have to read about both on this thread!

North East Portland. Born and raised. Portland reputation was amazing before Covid/riots.. now we’re an afterthought even though it’s bullshit fear mongering but you can’t help perception big bro.. it’s why Salt Lake City passes us up on mlb expansion

they "passed" us up because they came up with the 900 million. Once Portland upped theirs to 800 million, they moved back into the running.

I don't know how much I believe that Nashville is a "shoo-in", just because some "insider" said so.

So why didn’t we get a team BEFORE 2020?

Because MLB was using expansion cities as leverage for getting Tampa and Oakland new stadiums. No expansion was getting awarded until those situations played out. Covid hit and kicked the can.

Portland is on the way back but some things are standing in the way. Some of those things are politically motivated and some are economically motivated. Some are both.
It will be nice to see some things get done over the next couple years.

Agree with this ... perception is reality and as much as we might know that it's false, it won't matter to a lot of people out there. You hope that the ones making these decisions know better and actually do their due diligence!

Takes time. Think about Waco Texas. What do you immediately think.
Water under the bridge and a bunch of positive things have to happen for one major negative thing to be removed from the immediate perception.

Please bring your 'checkable facts' because all I see on here are you claiming the same thing over and over.

Agreed ... gotta think these leagues/owners making billion $$$ decisions know better but sometimes you have to wonder if that's even the case.

I think it’s BECAUSE they are making decisions about $billions is why they look at perceived situations. I know if it was my money I certainly would.

Expansion wasn’t nearly ready yet. But like I said I hope I’m wrong about us not being in the lead
