Which former Blazer would make the best HC for the team?

Alive or dead, this is just for the sake of "what if?" and to discuss pros and cons and potential coaching ability or lack thereof.

I will share my thoughts on some later, but wanted to just start this list and see if anyone has thoughts and ideas about a past player as coach or more to add to the list.

I am curious what Kersey or Porter would be like, but also someone more hot-blooded, possibly, might be better? I remember Porter a fair amount from my youth, but memories of Kersey have faded a lot (especially since he is sadly no longer with us, as Porter is to continue to share and display his great relationship and love of the city and the team).

Stoudamire and Roy stand out in my mind as former guards with that dog in them and that hot-headed, hot-blooded fire to ignite a team, at least, that's my memory of them. I didn't watch a TON then, though.

But how would their personalities and BB IQ and ability to communicate with the players translate into a coach?

 

I think Pippin would make the best coach of the bunch. Reminds me a bit of Ime.

I don’t believe HE actually did. But I know his dad and sister did for sure. So that counts.

Yep. I thought about including Kerr as well. Obvious choice was apparently too obvious and my mind exploded.

Yeah, maybe if Pippen would have got into coaching right after he retired he would have been a good to great coach. He definitely showed on the court that he had a great mind for both sides of the game. He's also one of the rare superstars that always seemed to know when to be the guy and when to be a role player.

Obviously he didn't have the passion for coaching necessary to do it and chose front office work which makes me think he was ready to put life on the road behind him after retiring as a player.

 

He hopefully won’t be a former Blazer for a while yet, but I have always thought that Dame has the potential to be a great coach.
