it depends....like you said, team needs

if it is the Giddey for most of his career in the NBA, probably Camara. If it's the Giddey of the last 25 games of last season after the Bulls traded Lavine, when Giddey averaged 20.5 - 9.5 - 8 while shooting 45% from three and playing solid defense....maybe Giddey. But I'd be a little hesitant because those numbers came when he was either option 1a or 1b sharing with Coby White. Maybe 1c if you count Vucevic. Maybe I'm overestimating his option role; he was 4th on the team in usage and FGA. He did lead the Bulls into the play-in...where they lost. Anyway, If Giddey is a 1st or 2nd option and arguably a team's best player, that team isn't going anywhere. Similar situation as Avdija IMO. They might be good enough as 2nd options and secondary facilitators on a contender, but not as best players

now, if it's Giddey at 25M/year vs Camara at 28-30M/year, it begins to be a different discussion

yeah, it's probably a good deal for the Bulls getting Giddey at 25M/year. There's still a little bit of a worry because Giddey really went wild over the last 25 games of the year. Averaged over 20-9-8 with 6 triple doubles while shooting 45% on three's. If he comes back to earth in a big way, he might be overpaid. If he builds on that late season surge, the Bulls got a steal

Obviously we’ll never know, but I disagree completely.

Have him move into Lillard's house and have Dame mentor him. If there is anyone who can get Simmons' mind right, it's Dame.

I do think this is a little bit lame just on principle but it will likely result in a lot more makes at the end of quarters which will be fun.

So you’re saying there are players which wouldn’t shoot it because of their FG% which now will shoot it because it won’t matter?

Hmmmm… Idk…. I guess it’s blatantly happened before so maybe it would follow that it’s less likely it will happen again. But I think most of the times the players aren’t even thinking of their FG% when they throw up a prayer.

I think there are a lot of players that definitely take it into consideration. If the game isn't close, they will intentionally wait until right after the buzzer to toss up the long shot.

It's when they hold the ball through the buzzer and then half heartedly heave something that I think will go away. It will likely be replaced by more intentional half to three quarters court shots just before the buzzer. So I do think guys who don't take a shot right before the end of quarters are thinking about their field goal percentage.

Google (Youtube) really appreciates this take. I can't be sure that Disney (ESPN), Comcast (NBC) or Amazon (Prime Video) will be very agreeable with the idea that people don't need to watch the games just the highlights.

I think @THE HCP should email this to his bosses. Since it's a "highlight sport" @THE HCP deserves a raise.

Why? Good or bad it will have no affect/effect on the game.

I think the buzzer beater highlight package you put together just before Christmas might beg to differ with you.

But there aren’t any players NOT taking 3 point heaves at the buzzer. What does the league think they are accomplishing here? I honestly am stumped.
