Sounds like there might be an official announcement on this very soon.

    and here it is:

    https://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/...trail-blazers-to-group-led-by-tom-dundon.html

Portland, Ore. – Sept. 12, 2025 - The Estate of Paul G. Allen today announced it has entered a formal sale agreement with Tom Dundon for the Portland Trail Blazers NBA franchise. Dundon (owner and CEO of the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes) will be joined by Marc Zahr (co-president of Blue Owl Capital), Sheel Tyle (the Portland-based founder and CEO of Collective Global), and the Cherng Family Trust (the family office of the co-founders of Panda Express and Panda Restaurant Group), as owners - who confirmed their intention to keep the team in Portland. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The transaction is subject to approval by the NBA Board of Governors.

The group also now includes the Cherng Family Trust, according to the estate’s announcement. Andrew Cherng co-founded Panda Express with his wife Peggy Tsiang Cherng. The family has a net worth of $7.5 billion, according to Forbes, which would make them the wealthiest investors in Dundon’s group.

OMG, WHEN THE BLAZERS SCORE OVER 100pts WE'RE GOING TO GET FREE PANDA EXPRESS! :NOTMARIS:

That's awesome! Panda Express is one of the best run fast food joints, they treat their employees very well.

"The deal, which The Oregonian/OregonLive first reported earlier this month, is expected to close by the end of the year with a valuation of $4.25 billion, according to a source close to the transaction."

so...by the end of the year....might make the trade deadline kind of ointeresting

I've seen here and I believe one other tweet that said by end of the season, not calendar year. Unsure which is more accurate

I am sure the league would like this sale done as quickly as possible since it is from a trust and a bit wonky.

And I wonder why Yang was selected by Blazers, think Panda Express had anything to do with it?

I highly doubt that is correct.
That would be unbelievably fast to close a deal this size that quickly.

My guess is that the end of the season got mixed up with end of the year (ie like the end if a school year...).

one 'report' said end of year; latest said by end of season. Another said the closing was scheduled for March but the new owners were hoping it would happen sooner
