Jimmy Fallon is trying way too hard. His cancellation would actually be a good thing.

I never understood his appeal. His comedic timing is the worst and he can't land a joke to save his soul.

Fallon is that annoying guy with an acoustic guitar at the party. He intentionally broke scene all the time on SNL to get the big laughs and put the spotlight on himself instead of trying to get through the sketch. He's a jerk.

His earnestness gets the best of him. He constantly checks in after each joke to see if it landed. It ruins it every time.

Literally have never laughed at anything hes ever done. But, someone sees something in him, hes marketable somehow.

He's for people with no idea how irony or satire work, which is a lot of people.

He's the "safe" comedian. He's what stupid and unfunny people think is funny.

He's not fundamentally a comedian. More of a game show host, I'd say. He's at his best when he's playing games with his guests. There's no reason to ever watch his monologue.

The only thing I can think of is bots make posts like this, older folks run with it, then somehow everyone right leaning confirms their biases a think its true?

    But idk.

His job isn't to dare them ... it's be a comedian and entertainer. He tried to state something as fact that is far from known at this point and he didn't even attempt to do it in a funny manner. You can get away with saying a lot of offensive stuff, as long as it's funny and he didn't even try to make it funny. Should he have been taken off the air, no but he also thumbed his nose at a very touchy subject and is now reaping the consequences. The government has overstepped their bounds in a big way but the affiliates not wanting him on their airwaves is just business. If Trump/FCC hadn't said anything but the affiliates pulled him, would you have an issue?

Fallon is so milquetoast in everything he does, I have no idea how he is as popular as he is but then again Leno was aggressively unfunny and he always had better numbers than Letterman.

A question I posed to some friends recently but no one has a good answer, why is it that Trump never goes after Jon Stewart and especially the South Park guys?

    Yet...

In all seriousness, I imagine both JS and SP have excellent contracts. Trump is close to the new owners of Paramount, the company that has the broadcast rights to both shows. If there were a way he could get them off the air, he would. Also, I believe that cable channels don't have the same rules as OTA channels. But I could be wrong on that.

They don't have the same rules as Over The Air channels do but he bitches and moans an awful lot about CNN/MSNBC and a bunch of other stations/shows that mock him to no end but he never really goes after JS or SP. Trump might have a decent relationship with the new owners of Paramount (Ellisons) but he seemed to be pretty combative with the old owners (Sherry Redstone) and routinely went after 60 Minutes that is also a Paramount property.

I believe ABC cancelled Bill Maher's original show Politically Incorrect as well if I'm not mistaken.
