What was with those play calls in OT on 3rd and 4th down? I know the game should have never made it to OT but just no imagination at all.
Is this the most depressing era in the history of the Beavers Football? Yeah there were 20 whatever straight losing seasons and no bowl games is the 80-90s but at least as a member of the Pac10 had the dream of one day being able to improve.
This is what I’m talking about. I keep hearing how cool it is that they got so-in-so state to join their “conference” And I was like “WHO!!??” Beavers fans won’t give a fuck about watching their team play Texas U or whatever they’re called. UCLA/CAL/UW now you’re talking.
It was one of the best options they could have had. Better than the doom and gloom some posters had around here saying we wouldn't even have a conference and would cease to exist.
These are two different things. I said it was very cool TXST joined. But it's also super depressing Beavs era the last few years. There was no way to have UCLA/Cal/UW. So I don't see why you bring those up? The options were the likes of sac State, UTEP, Montana, or some New Mexico school. TXST is much better than those.
Moreover. What are they supposed to do. Just stop football altogether? Quit sports? Close the school permanently. You make the best out of a bad situation and try to make improvements.
Yeah agreed, Beavs should just do the best they can which the most part I think they have tried. Maybe coach is bad in ways or not but really thats not relevant long term. HCP brings up all the time that the Beavs have worse conference situation than years ago. Duh we all know that and it really sucks. It's like some rich person walking around telling poor people they are all poor. As if we don't know that. Maybe OSU/WSU should have taken different actions the last few years of the PAC and tried to get media deals locked up. Those are things more like 5 years ago and have no bearing on recent Beaver decisions. Once USC/UCLA bolted and the Pac couldn't get a decent media deal the conference future was doomed. Been saying it since I started school at OSU in '99 that the Beavs were always super fortunate to have been in the Pac the last 100 years. But once the LA schools with their market left and the other big market/big donor schools had demand the Beavs were in a horrible position. It's also just a product of CFB TV deals in the current era that there is all this realignment. If in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's there had been this type of movement from TV deals all 3 of the Beavs/Ducks/Cougs would have got left out of the Pac8/Pac10 back then since they were all losing programs during those eras.
not the 90's. * from 1990-1999 Ducks were 70-46 with 7 winning seasons and 8 bowl games including the Rose and Cotton Bowls * meanwhile, OSU was 29-81 with only one winning season and one bowl game Phil Knight has been great for Oregon, but his first invested dollar didn't show up till the Moshofsky Center opened. By that time, in the previous 11 seasons, Oregon had posted 8 winning seasons and had appeared in 7 bowl games. The separation and gap between Oregon and OSU had started a decade before Phil Knight got involved. It was the Rich Brooks-->Mike Bellotti progression responsible for that. PK entered the picture and the facilities went into overdrive and branding campaign paid major dividends
YES. They’ve only had a team for a couple seasons anyway right? The “fans” couldn’t be TOO attached to them.
This the league that both OSU & WSU should have been in for the last 30 plus years. Its always been a better fit, imo. Football Standings 2025
