    Bogus! ClutchFans Vs. RubeChat

Hi. As we were discussing over on the Clutchfans forum, the NBA rule book says one condition for "end of dribble" is the ball is at rest under the player's control. The point I was trying to make there, which met some resistance, is that what that actually means is not fully defined -- it is...

Damn, that sucks. I feel terrible for him.

At least Greg is doing what Nate asked him to do

So you want all your players to be treated like superstars? I'm just saying that in the playoffs last year, whenever Oden racked up the fouls people complained it was because of Yao getting calls. Well, this year he's getting into foul trouble against the likes of Chuck Hayes and Luis Scola...

    It's clear what we're missing

Third option should be Webster or Fernandez, IMO. Both have strong offensive skills.

At least Greg is doing what Nate asked him to do

Leaving aside the offense, he fouls WAY too much. This can't be blamed on refs, and it can't be blamed on superstar calls for the opponent. Its something he needs to fix.

    Andre Miller: The right fit?

Interesting. Did you calculate that, or is there another source? Based on Steve Ilardi's regressed +/- (using 6 years of data, weighted heavily towards last season), Andre Miller very likely made his team somewhere between 3 and 7 points worse defensively over 100 possessions. That's very...

What's up with that Outlaw tech? I couldn't tell what got him angry.

    Andre Miller: The right fit?

He's a poor defender, and his lack of range offset his skills in and around the basket. Never thought he was a great fit for the Blazers.

Post entry passing? Feed the Beast!

The Blazers were a fantastic offensive team last year without Greg Oden. Their defense was the weakness. So, I agree -- Oden should focus on transforming the Blazers into a top-notch defensive squad, rebound, and cut down the silly fouls, and he'll have done his job. Bill Russell was the...

Post entry passing? Feed the Beast!

You guys need to understand that Chuck Hayes is a top 5 post defender in this league. It doesn't matter if he's giving up 7 inches; Oden will not be effective posting up against him. The matchup the Blazers should exploit on the blocks when playing the Rockets is Aldridge vs Scola/Landry.

    Interesting stats about the game.

I stand corrected. Didn't notice they were overtime games.

    Interesting stats about the game.

My mistake. I meant game 71 and game 55. http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/tgl.cgi?team=POR&year=2009

    Interesting stats about the game.

Doesn't look that way to me. Using FGA+.44*FTA-OREB+TO, Blazers had 101 and 104 possessions in their last two regular games last year.

    Interesting stats about the game.

Two main reasons I saw the Blazers got a lot of possessions: (1) the Rockets are looking to push the tempo this year, (2) the Rockets missed a lot of shots and did not offensive rebound well. It's easier to run off a defensive rebound than from out of bounds. That Hollinger formula for...
