A ?6m bid from Middlesborough for Manu's Alan smith has reportedly been accepted. Personally i dont want Smith to leave, he is a good player and can play almost everywhere.

Wow, I knew we were targeting him but not enough to make a bid. On the Boro website it's got rumours saying it's now just up to us to convince him that his future lies at the Riverside. It'd be a good signing if we get him, just need him to stay injury-free and out of trouble.

Was always a fan of Alan Smith but his chances were very limited last season. I'm sure he could be a first team regular at a premiership club

If United can get £6mil for a striker that has only scored 7 (seven) goals for them they'll rip Boro's hands off quicker than Barrymore can get his pants off when he hears pool party mentioned. Alan Smith as been a MAJOR flop at United.

Well it wont be a rip off. hes worth 6mil and you say hes only scored seven goals for us. He didnt always play up front and he was injured for a while.

We've got Yakubu, Aliadiere, Lee Dong-Gook, Tuncay Sanli and then Alan Smith if we get him, but I can see Southgate putting Aliadiere or Dong-Gook in an attacking midfield role because we can't fit/we don't want all of them into the forward line.

He played in around 80 matches. So less than 1 goal in 10 is poor because he's not exactly defensive.

Yakubu and Smith upfront would be great for boro in my opinion or even smith into midfield.

Don't forget who else we've signed, so Smith into an attacking midfield position would be more likely than being up front with Yakubu. I think Tuncay Sanli will line up with Yakubu but Southgate gave Dong-Gook a go towards the end of last season so he's also a chance to start the season in the first XI.

Well United need to sell a striker so that they can go for a striker, i thaught saha would be sold and we would keep smith as a good squad player.
