I played three years of varsity back in high school for two different schools, one of which went to the state title game. We had scouts coming to our practices all the time, and we had nine guys go on from that team to play Division I football, most of which wound up at Memphis, but one at Tennessee and one who initially accepted an offer from Notre Dame but wanted to stay close to home and decided to change his commitment to Ole Miss instead.

I don't know how serious high school football is up in the north, but in the south it's irritatingly a really big deal. Our games sold more tickets than the Oilers did when they were in town (now known as the 'Titans' of the NFL). Of course, that meant our coaches drove us like slaves, pushing us to the brink of death. It was torture, but I did it because I knew in the long run I'd get in great shape. It always helped prepare me for basketball.

To be honest, I'm surprised your school (assuming you're still in high school) hasn't started training for next year yet. We'd start practice up for next season as soon as basketball was over. Nothing better than "spring practice" in early March. [IMG]

I’m playing my second year of Varsity this year. We start conditioning Monday. Our school/city is huge on high school football we have a game every year between the two main high schools in the city, and the whole city into it. We typically have a lot of highly recruited players we had a guy who went to Temple a couple years back. Our starting FB/LB went to Pittsburgh, and our QB was getting some offers from schools like Penn State, but had a knee injury that caused him to miss an entire season. So schools are concerned about his experience level, and seeing how he develops. So he is going to a 2 year college then transferring to a big program.

We have all the latest lifting equipment as well as a brand new stadium due to a guy who went to our school, and ended up in the NFL. He paid for everything.

I played in Pop Warner years ago as QB. I was going to play QB in highschool, but our team ran the ball exclusively because we had two power running backs.
