Timbers striker will bring speed, power to attack

Los Angeles Blues News Release -- www.labluesprosoccer.com

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Blues are excited to announce they have added striker Bright Dike on loan from the Portland Timbers. The 25-year-old, who appeared in 11 matches for the MLS side in 2011, joined Head Coach Charlie Naimo’s squad for yesterday’s training session in Fullerton and is expected to be with the club for the remainder of the current USL PRO campaign, with the Timbers reserving the right to recall him if needed.

"Portland contacted us and asked whether we’d be interested if the opportunity came up,” Naimo said. “It was a no-brainer for us and we feel very fortunate to be adding a classy player like Bright to our roster and hopefully have him here for a while to come.”

Timbers' Dike looks bright after return from successful loan

BEAVERTON, Ore. – When Portland Timbers forward Bright Dike was shipped to the LA Blues of USL Pro earlier this season on loan, he tried to look on the bright side – he'd get more game experience and a chance to show Portland what he is capable of.

But if being sent to a third-division team wasn't a wake-up call for Dike, a former first-round pick of the Columbus Crew in the 2010 SuperDraft, it certainly opened his eyes to the fleeting nature of being a professional athlete

Jesus this scared me. I was just about to march down to Wilkinson's office to murder him lolz. Bright has looked good since he has come back up. Hopefully he can build on that and have a future to add depth to the club. One of my most favorite USL Timbers.

    Report:
Portland's Dike has torn ACL, out until August

With his future looking brighter than ever, Portland Timbers forward Bright Dike has reportedly suffered another injury setback.

Almost two years to the day after he ruptured his Achilles’ tendon in a preseason game, Dike was severely injured again, after colliding with Sounders goalkeeper Josh Ford in the second half of Tuesday’s preseason game in Tucson, Ariz.

Tough break for Dike. Fortunately we have a lot of depth up front.
