For me I'd like to see the following, given that Sidwell has already signed.

    Bye Bye:
Boulahrouz - A liability in my opinion, too often done for pace, makes a lot of wrong decisions
Ballack - Not enough effort - taken 20% off Frank's game
Geremi - A good servant for Chelsea, but too often ineffective when he does come on and there are better players in his position (whether he plays right back or in midfield)

    Hello:
Alex from PSV - I think we already own his contract (or at least part of it) - straight replacement for Boulahrouz. The central defensive cover we missed so badly this last season.
Johnson - Our Glen, matured this past year and could still be a future England right back. 20 games this year for Glen instead of Geremi and I think he'll be good for playing a full 2008/09 instead of Paulo.
Sidwell - A good signing, not a Makelele, not a Frank, not a Winger but would allow Frank to play more as he did 2004/5 and 5/6. If Frank's injured would like to see Essien pushed forward more which will be possible if we have 3 good centre-backs.

These three players are all free(ish) and we could possibly even raise some cash by making these 3 'swaps'. Then I think we should:

Sell Wright Philips - Looked like he might do the business towards the end of the season but then just when I had my hopes up went back to giving the ball away and running down blind alleyways just when we really needed him.

Buy Quaresma from Porto - Needs to stop with the diving thing but otherwise a great player, great vision, great skills. Would bring that something extra to the attack.

and finally get Crespo back - Wish he hadn't gone. Sheva will come into his own this next year and we need two good strikers when Drogba and Kalou go off to the African Nations. Sheva and Crespo would do it for me.

In summary - spend a net ?0 - get back our good players and say goodbye to the dead wood. Quaresma could be next season's Ronaldo.

I doubt Crespo will return. He seems content to stay with Inter Milan and is doing well there.

You think quaresmo is free? He would take time to settle so id say stick with wright philips. The guy is getting better.

As for crespo he is unhappy in london, let him stay in italy, a swap with adriano would be good for both clubs if it was a loan deal.

Lastly if boularouz and geremi goes and alex and johnson are in then i still feel we need one more center back.

Crespo is like Reyes. He Can't adapt. Sure they both play the odd great game but in the end they both want to play for their favourite leagues

I hate Ballack. Hes a prick. He complains abt the weather in England, the food and he gets paid like 130,000 pounds per week? Hate him

If u sell Ballack then u could play Essien in the defensive role and Lampard could play his free attacking role while J.Cole or Robben and W.Phillips could play on the wings. Doesn't look like a bad thing if u sell Ballack if u ask me

Well done to Chelsea for not spending 60-70 Million on players for so far anyway.
