http://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/team/1382586596-947-605/report-former-oregon-ducks-tight.html What did you do this time Colt? I bet if he hadn't quit, he'd probably have been kicked off the team anyway.
Detectives were working an unrelated case around 7th Avenue and Polk in Eugene when they spotted Lyerla in a vehicle, apparently snorting a white powdery substance. Andrew Greif from the Oregonian summarized what happened next. Sheriff's report: Lyerla then admitted to using and possessing cocaine. Returned to apt. with officers to continue investigation, then ran. Lyerla then ran into a neighboring apartment. He was arrested after he emerged from the residence and was then transported to Lane County Jail.

back when Colt was a HS prospect it was regularly relayed that he came from a family with abuse problems and rumors were always there that he was troubled too. The reports never specified what his "trouble" exactly was but it was implied he probably hadn't fallen far from the tree. I recall reports he picked fights while on a OV to UCLA and was sent home early by the Bruins. The unbelievably meat headed Newtown tweets this offseason and then his swan song exit stage left into the toilet...pretty pathetic Oregon's daily practices start at 5AM. That sort of schedule doesn't mesh with those off the straight and narrow. Hopefully this is rock bottom for Colt and he rights himself. Hopefully he doesn't continue to be a meat head, but stupid is as stupid does. Pretty funny that after being caught redhanded & confessing and obviously being an extremely recognizable person, that he then ran for it. He just took a big gacker prior to being busted and authority is now coming down like a ton of bricks. He's all jacked up, what a nightmare! One last chance to run Forest... run Forest run! think things might have turned out differently if he had come from a solid family? STOMP
I figured it must be pretty bad when he left the team, but this just confirms that the guy is in serious trouble.
Talent, good team-mates, a free education and a chance to make millions as a pro player.........and he is too dumb to appreciate any of it. Not to excuse Colt for his own stupidity - but you do have to wonder what kind of parents he had. Where are they in all this?
A while back I apologized for my Colt comments knowing the truth, that said I think this is the beginning of a very bad nose dive for Colt. The NFL will run away from this type of behavior in a hurry. A good rehab and a bunch of non using friends is what this kid needs.
I don't have a dog in this fight, but my gut feel is that the NFL takes a significantly different line with previous cocaine use than with marijuana use. Especially since the Matt Jones experiment.
There are a couple of possible red flags in this arrest. The first being him going back to his apartment with the cops. That just doesn't happen in a simple drug arrest. I'm guessing he was spilling his guts and was taking them back there for either phone numbers or information on his suppliers or they had talked him into making a controlled buy until he freaked out and ran away. Also the that this is being handled by the Inter Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team is worrisome. Doesn't seem like a relatively minor possession case would be something they care about. My guess is when Colt was busted he panicked and was offering up dirt on anyone and everyone he could think of as a way to try and bargain his way out of this. Hopefully no one else on the team is connected in anyway to this bullshit.
I thought that was weird too. Also, they just happened to see him snorting coke while they were in the middle of another bust? Who snorts coke while the cops are within eyesight?
