    Frye > Diogu

Ok that might be going a little too far, but Frye just simply outplayed Diogu today and a lot of Diogu's weaknesses were exposed. Ike wasn't quick enough or athletic enough to guard the taller Frye who went 8-12. Diogu also had a horrible time trying to score on the zone. He was also letting himself get boxed out by Hassan Adams, who is four inches shorter than Diogu. I have to give credit to Ike though. I do think he is one of the top five players offensively and he showed that by his ability to get to the free throw line where he converted most of the time.

In the end though 'Zona was too much as they just demolished State.

I agree with you assessment, and I have a feeling that those exact reasons are why Diogu will slip in the Draft come choosing time. Mid first round sound right?

I'm thinking mid to late first round. Scouts don't like the fact that he isn't tall nor athletic because it will slightly hinder his ability to score on the pro level, but on a bigger scale it will hinder his ability to rebound and play defense like witnessed today.

Then again some players are taken higher than they should on draft day, and I think Diogu might be one of those players because he can just flat out find ways to score which is very impressive.

*Edit* Ok I know what I just said about him finding ways to put the ball in the ball in the basket is somewhat contrary to what I said in my first post. However, if anyone saw the game today you saw how great the Arizona zone was. A lot of times they couldn't even get the ball past the three point line because Arizona stole the ball, caused a tie-up, or severly disrupted the Arizona St. offense with how well they were playing the zone. Even with that Diogu was still able to get the ball in his hands and score whether it be from the free throw line or off a post move. The thing he needs to do is not force the issue as much. There was one sequence where he had the ball at the top of the key, pump faked, got his jumper blocked by Adams, got the ball back, pimp faked again, drove the basket with four or five guys surrounding him, and still tried to score.

NBA scouts have been down on Diogu since his high school days... he's not big enough, not quick enough, won't fit well into the NBA 4 spot, etc.

He'll be a late first AT BEST... I think he'll drop to mid-2nd round. He's somewhat of a Mario Bennett, plays well at college level, blocks, rebounds and scores for ASU, but probably won't amount to much at the NBA level. If he works out and gets stronger, maybe he can be a Ben Wallace player, and come off the bench for a team in need of a tough rebounder.

But even so I don't see Ike being much of NBA player... sadly cause I love him as a Sun Devil. Frye on the other hand will probably be an All-Star... the Wildcats always seem to do well in the NBA even though I'm routing against them every chance I get [IMG]
