I come home to find out my computer is infected with spyware and viruses. How the fuck do I get them off for free?

    By knowing a computer whiz.

Or you could always try downloading something free, like AVG Antivirus. Another, albeit more risky, option is to manually remove them. Just Google the viruses and I'm sure you can find instructions on how to get rid of them.

I downloaded a free trial of Adaware 2007 a while a go, and that seemed to do the trick.

However I got hit with the dreaded "antivirus2009" spyware and this wasn't advanced enough to pick it up. Then I downloaded a [IMG] copy of PC Tools Spyware Doctor, and I was shocked to see how many threats had gone undetected.

I was going to say adaware as a starting point.

If you can track down which virus' you have, you can google it and usually find a step by step process on how to get rid of it.

Those porn sites you visit are notorious for giving you viruses.

antivirus2009 was a pain in the ass because it made this blurb pop up in my taskbar that said I was infected and wouldn't go away.

It's angle is to make you pay for fake spyware removal...and then gives you more spyware.

You have to delete it from your registry, or just use an advanced spyware removal to get rid of it for you.

I use Avast!. Pretty good, not sure if it's free since I didn't get it the "usual" way.

Avast! is free. I use it in addition to Ad-Aware and Spybot.
