Arizona averaged a whopping 2.3 yards with 35 attempts. LSU averaged 3.6 Yards with 48 attempts and only gave up 98 yards passing. http://espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=312670012 http://espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=312460099 2 completions for over 10 yards with LSU, and one of them was literally 10 yards. And yes Arizona's QB and WR's are very good. [/QUOTE] Yes we are missing some good players. But we still did what other SEC defenses couldnt do (including LSU, Bama, South Carolina, etc) for 4 quarters... we made the Auburn Offense look normal. All of that with a smaller Defensive Line. Agreed So far 4.0 yards per carry against teams not named Missouri St, and 3.8 yards per carry if you include them. The highest average was against Nevada 5.5 yards per carry. I'd be interested to see how much of that was late and against backups. Against the teams that punished our lines and created huge holes for their punishing RB's to get huge gains, its an average of 3.09 yards per carry. With the longest going to Ford from LSU of 20 yards, which iirc was a TD so it could have been longer, but he wasnt exactly their speed demon. No one is saying it doesnt. But its a blend of speed and size that is needed. We are still just now getting to recruit those type of athletes. A guaranteed 4 wins a year coming from their Turd Tech OOC schedule doesnt hurt either.
also to be fair I realize that Sack yards are also included in the total yardage. So I jut looked at the top 2 Carry RB's from each team of the two mentioned. Ware (3.8 ypc) and Ford (6.9 ypc with the 20 yard run 5.8 ypc without) for LSU Antolin ( 4.2 ypc) and Carey (4.0 ypc)
Well, it is what it is. We are either good enough to beat Stanford or we aren't. I have sort of come to a sense of calm about this season, as if it's a rebuilding year because we lost so many guys and because we are trying to integrate so many new faces. One thing I'm a little curious about is whether Cliff Harris will ever seem to recover from this bullshit suspension. He has been awfully quiet.
I'm worried. I mean...our secondary did what they had to do to win, but if several of those dropped passes would have been completed, it could have been an entirely different game. We DID win, but we might not be so lucky when we play Luck with the dropped passes. Too many open WR's... Know what I mean?
I hear ya. I just kinda have gotten to the point over the years that I'm not going to overly worry about stuff I have no control over. Watching the Blazers go from the best future in the world, to a probable playoff team has done that to me. Something clicked with me around when I turned 23 or so. I just learned to not worry so much about the destination, but enjoy the journey there.
Ah yes.... 23.... when the universe opens up and you are exposed to all of the wisdom that comes with old age
lol yeah I honestly have no idea why it was around that time. Maybe it was the marriage thing, and the wife getting sick of me yelling obscenities at referees and such
my wife is more of the "she doesnt like to hear any swear words" type lol. How she survives Timbers games I will never know.
Must resist... must not make jokes about sleeping with Wheels wife... soooooo hard... must resist harder...
