I haven't seen a topic or post about this film before, but it's pretty good. Basically, it's a film by Mike Judge. For those of you who don't know who he is, he created the shows Beavis and Butthead and King of the Hill, and the film Office Space. The reason you have probably never heard of Idiocracy is because it was only shown in limited release. If you didn't enjoy Office Space or King of the Hill, you might still like this film. It's just a different type of humor. Beavis and Butthead is a little before my time, but I know that it's a pretty stellar comedy. If you hate all three of those, you're just stupid and don't deserve the right to have a sense of humor. Go watch Norbit or something. The basic plot of the film is that there is an Army Private, Joe Bauers, who is put into a military experiment. He ends up 500 years in the future, in an America that is, well, rather idiotic. Essentially, everyone has been bombarded with such idiocy that everyone has gotten used to being stupid. Not just that, but genetically the people are dumb enough that they would be considered retarded today. Of course, Joe is not from the future, so he is now the smartest person on earth. As America is in chaos in the future, Joe is the obvious choice to save it. It has a great cast headed by Luke Wilson (Old School) and Maya Rudolph (SNL). It's a great satire... if you can't figure out what it's satirizing, then it's just that much funnier to me. [IMG]Here's a clip!

Sounds like a decent movie, if I saw it on tv I might watch it.

You can rent it, I've seen it on the shelves. The plot sounds pretty funny, I might check it out.

I was let down. It was still fairly funny but with the fact that it had Luke Wilson & was a Mike Judge film I thought it would be a lot better.

I'd say that I think the end of the movie is a little bit stupid, but it's pretty solid most of the way through. Like I said, it's definitely different comedy than his other stuff... it's very satirical (King of the Hill has some satire, too, but it's not nearly as bad). I was kinda thinking about the satire as far as what they are saying with it, and it's just... sad.brought to you by Carl's Jr.
