AP award is announced in a few weeks. PFWA award is some great hardware for Kiko, but the AP award is considered more prestigious.
In all seriousness, some of you will disagree with my strong approach to player discipline. I'm also big on second chances. Kiko is another example why. His life was headed down the shitter with heavy, heavy drinking. A strong stance and disciplinary action sent a message and it appears he has taken full advantage of his second chance (third) chance. Good for him. I'll never forget watching him play live in the Rose Bowl and giving him a high five.
Sadly, for every Kiko, there is a handful of guys like Cliff Harris, Colt Lyerla, and Jeremiah Masoli. So much wasted talent. Really happy for Kiko though. We really missed him this last season.
Wow, who saw that coming? I hope our LB core steps it up next year, Oregon has had quite a few good ones go through it's ranks over the last few years. On the flip side Dion Jordan did jack squat. 19 tackles and 2 sacks. I really had a feeling he'd be a bust for where he was taken, simply because he didn't dominate at the collegient level.
They used Jordan as a Pass Rush Specialist most of the year, and Special Temas player... and he was hurt. What has shown you he will be a bust? Did you notice the difference in our pass rush when he was hurt his last year?
Jordan had an amazing college career. The only reason he'd be considered as under-performing is because of his injury and the fact he went in the top 3 selections of the draft. I think he'll have a nice career at the pro level.
2 sacks is not what you expect from a #3 overall pick "pass rush specialist". Go talk to Dolphin fans and see what they think about Jordan.
That underachieving Kiko also only had two sacks. Wasn't Dion used exclusively on 2nd/3rd and long plays and approx 40% of the time dropped into pass coverage? He had his moments. I think he'll have a nice career. Media outlets are saying Eagles front office may get creative to try to bring Jordan to Philly. All just chatter at this point.
Dion's biggest plays of the year didn't yield sacks. He pressured Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan at the end of close games. Against Flacco, the INT was returned for a TD (Flacco did lead a FG on the next drive to win the game), and against Ryan, he pressured him at the end of the game and Jimmy Wilson had the game-clinching INT.
