Just being a fan here... LMJ said this is the same kind of injury he had in HS, and that he didn't lose any time at all before. Different set of circumstances today though. I'm just really feeling positive that swelling is doing good and he's refusing any pain meds. Reading online about severe dislocations, healing time varies. Sometimes it's a week. Sometimes it's more.... Six weeks was on the high end. Next Sat we host a ranked ASU team. They have a good defense that is more of a run stopper. Their secondary is terribly suspect...so...pass...pass...pass...and when we need to, Barner, Thomas and Carson will fill the role (but not the shoes). It's at Autzen -- luckily. Following week is Colorado. A 1-4 team giving up more pass yards than rush. They lost to Cal and despite not playing any ranked teams, are giving up more yards and TD's than they get. Three weeks out is WSU. This can be a tricky game, but we get them at Autzen. WSU is 3-1 and has not played any ranked teams. Again, its a team giving up more pass yards than rush... They lost to San Diego State and have wins over UNLV, Idaho St and Colorado. On Nov 4th, we will need LMJ. We play at UW, who is 4-1 with their only loss coming in a fairly close game to a then ranked 11 Nebraska. Tough road game. Nov 12th...showdown at Stanford Stadium...and we WILL need LMJ... So, the injury was gruesome. Of course none of us want to see that - not even Tlong, but as far as schedule and timing...we can drive on through the next month and get our LMJ back in the groove!
I'm really starting to wonder if maybe we should bring one of our speedsters off the redshirt list.... either Blackmon or Sumler. We desperately need some more weapons for Thomas to throw to. DAT was a huge contributor tonight, thank god, but we still really haven't seen much from our WRs. Tuinei hasn't really done shit and Huff has really only started to show anything against Cal. I still want a deep threat for Thomas to throw to.
I dunno, Nate, we have a stable of running backs. And with two of them being freshman as it is I think it unwise to burn a redshirt for this.
ASU will be a dangerous game for the Ducks. The Satans have a strong pass rush and with Thomas's suspected knee injury that could spell trouble.
Possibly, Tlong, but for some reason I'm less worried about ASU than a few other upcoming games. I think it's because we're at home and even without LMJ, we are loaded at RB. ASU secondary is crap, and we're fast enough to take that physical ASU D side to side - much like we did to Cal.
If ASU's defense is anything like last years. Their speed is their strength but they are undersized. Cal's D wasnt as fast, but much more physical.
