Unlike some, I'm really not that worried about recruiting. The core will be back next year, and after we have another huge season, I think we'll have a good year next year.
I'm more positive now that I see how the recruits are reacting. If we keep winning that will take care of itself.
That went much quicker then I feared. Tyner is happy and so am I. Helfrich knows how to run this Kelly system which gives me confidence that this talented group will do their thing in 2013. Alls well STOMP

I understand that Helfrich has been showing up at the various verbal's homes with most of the rest of the coaching staff in tow. They hit up the local kids first and then visited Mattingly Carrington and the Robinsons out of state. On the weekends they're back in Eugene hosting guys on their OVs STOMP
Coach Helfrich was on The Herd this morning. Colin prefaced the interview with the suggestion that (at least in the NW), hiring the assistant to follow the successful departed head coach has not historically turned out well (UW, WSU, OSU hoops). Helfrich countered by pointing out the Brooks-->Bellotti-->Kelly succession line, and stated that they would be keeping 99.2% of what Kelly did. Came off confident and energetic, ready to do the job and do it well. Seemed to have (somewhat) won Colin over.
You really think he is an idiot? I remember him here in Ptd and listen to him most mornings going to work. I found him funny and interesting. He would often have me laughing out loud in the car. It's not easy being entertaining on the radio and I knew he would be on to bigger and better things. I understand not agreeing with his takes or finding him annoying, but he is witty and inteligent, IMO. Could only wish Ptd had another local guy of that caliber. I miss good local sports talk in the morning. One of few complaints with Ptd . . . it is just not a sports town.
I guess I don't mean that he's unintelligent overall, the guy is polished, but I find myself disagreeing with most of his sports takes. In fact, I remember during his time in Portland that he spent a large part of his time talking about human interest stuff. Not sports. I think someone can be a fucking genius in one area and down right stupid in others.
I think that now he's gone ESPN he is more trying to be entertaining and add some shock value as opposed to being totally himself. And that makes him less interesting to listen to.
