AOX was a beast in the first half. Song is lumbering a bit and his passing is only average by his standards. Walcott & Gervinho not comfortable in their roles, but are both slow starters. Szczesny made an incredible play at the end of the half to come out and disrupt what was a defensive breakdown leading to a sitter for El Shazzyman, resulting in the shot going wide. He hasn't had much to do otherwise. A bit overaggressive in his throws and kicks trying to push the team forward. We have 45 to make it even, now, so hopefully we are more composed at the back than we were in the final few minutes.
Meanwhile the referee is a bit of an odd one tonight. He got the penalty call wrong--only because he wasn't going to make it until the goal judge prompted him to do so--but he made the right decision in listening to him rather than going off his own opinion. No card for Mesbah who has had a shocking game. I thought a foul in the box was an automatic yellow?
Game has opened up considerably. Not getting the pressure we had in the first half. AOX with a bit of a hammy but so far he's staying on.
Unsurprisingly Chamakh was utterly invisible after coming on (never heard his name after the sub), no replacement at all for the charging AOX who we missed dearly; only time Park touched the ball he turned it over Kind of regret the way these two have been used this year since now there are useless even as subs
Pretty obvious that we ran out of steam in the second half. Milan didn't play any better, they just had opportunities because we couldn't keep up our effort. Nothing to be ashamed of today.
