"Bobby Ryan's numbers for the Ducks - 14 goals and 27 points - are respectable enough, but look beneath the surface and you'll find a winger who has come up dry in December.

Ryan has just two goals and three assists with just two games left in the month, facts that Ducks coach Randy Carlyle readily pointed out Sunday in a clear attempt to get his two-time 30-goal scorer going.

"Bobby Ryan is, I would say, in a slump," Carlyle said. "(He) has got to take some responsibility in providing some offense, too. He's got over 20 minutes a game played, and bottom line is we need more than what he's given."

The sharp critique of his play didn't blindside Ryan as he said he has heard it straight from the coach's mouth. And it is something with which he has no issue.

"I've had a horrific month and I think it comes from me just getting away from the things that have made me successful," Ryan said after a 4-1 Ducks loss to the Kings on Sunday night. "I know it's there. I know I'm better than I've been playing, and it's been addressed."
