They just sent out a letter? A lot of my friends got recruited to play football, and the coach would come watch us practice, meet with their families, etc.

Or was it a likely letter for walk-on status?

(Sorry for the interrogation, but I'm just interested by the recruiting processes certain schools go through, lol.)

Also, Santa Clara is amazing. I've got a friend on the soccer team who I stayed with a week this fall and it's an underrated party school (not that you'd choose it on that basis - just pointing that out [IMG]). I applied, got accepted, and was very close to going there. The only problem was that they gave me such a weak financial aid package. It's funny, even the Ivy's gave me more aid than Santa Clara, which is a bummer, because I seriously considered going there to play ball as a preferred walk-on before my aid package came in the mail. Can't say enough about their academics though. If you can get the aid to go there, you'll be getting a great education.</div>

No, I'm white but I go to a catholic high school so I think that increases my chances of getting into a private college. Its not as much of an advantage as if I were a minority but I think I'm more likely to get in than a student with the same grades/SAT scores who goes to a public school. My sister got an 1100 on the SAT and got into USF for example, I know she wouldn't have been accepted with those scores/grades if she had gone to our local public high school.

I would definitely have Santa Clara near the top of my list if I were accepted there but like you said financial aid will be a big concern since I'll have to take out loans and pay for college later on. Private schools generally cost quite a bit more than an in-state public college would.

well yeah. however, coach dorell has been heavily recruiting me since i was 16 and he's talked to me and my mom about becoming a bruin for a few months now. i spoke with Duke, Notre Dame, a few ivy league schools, NYU, Texas, Texas A&M, but in the end, UCLA is the place i want to be.

and no, it wasn't a walk-on status. He promised to help me juggle my academics, track and football.

Awesome. Aren't you from Canada (maybe I just thought that since you're a Raps fan)? Didn't know football was even played up there... damn, I'm ignorant...
