Well this game gave me a lot to think about when Stanford plays the Ducks in November.

Stanford's O line is big, athletic, and very physical! There offense is not built to be on a highlight reel, but very effective much like Bama. One play I noticed that does concern me, Stanford brings in two O lineman puts them as full backs to power rush the D line to create space for short yardage gains. This play was very effective. I'm not sure how we can defend that. Sure we could stock the box with AA, Buckner and so on but we need big horses of LB's to come over and stick the A gaps. So for these short yardage assaults I think the Ducks should bring in Balducci as a Mike LB to T-bone that movement. The other things I noticed was that if you over pursue Stanford while they are on offense which Oregon has a tendency to do on blitz packages, they make you pay for it with their discipline. Can Aliotti be patient enough so we don't burn ourselves?

It is important to factor in that ASU is not a big D line and that showed, but there open field tackling was dreadful. Stanford crushed them on YAC. I also saw a ton of very tasty areas in Stanford's defense that our TE's can exploit the hell out of. I think we should almost run Stanford's offense right back at them with our TE's, at Oregon pace. Our TE's could open up HUGE running lanes for DAT, MARCUS and TYNER. Yes the defense is big, but they were huffing against ASU, imagine what we can do to them?

I hope Helfrich and Frost realize that if we run into the heart of Stanford's defense and try and get to the outside to get up field we'll be smushed! That puts Marcus into a dreadful spot of having to throw on 3rd downs which makes Stanford's secondary's job simple. This year I hope we make Stanford have to play defense our way. Utilize our TE's often. Make Stanford LB's worn out taking down Colt and Mundt, thus making their secondary have to come in to help tackle, opening up the deep ball routes and the running game. Chip killed us last year not going to Colt often enough. Let's hope we've learned. We have two Colts this year and receivers that are ready to test Stanford's secondary and often. Let's get these guys on their heels defensively and then punch them in the mouth with our running game.

I honestly think we could go into the Farm using their offense with our tempo and beat them senseless this year. We have the TE's Stanford had last year. Our skilled players are better than theirs. Make them stop us on their weakness, their secondary. Attack, attack, attack at our pace and by third quarter that big D line of theirs, will be so freaking tired our running game can take over.

    Thoughts?

I had pretty much the same thoughts. Stanford will chew up a lot of time. I like the idea of more passing against them. Stanford isn't a real fast team and no one can cover Colt or DAT out of the backfield. Also, our WR will be in man coverage all day. I say challenge those SOB's.
