Here's a fun UO history lesson... In 1910 an alternative to freshman hazing was proposed at the University of Oregon, the Underclass Mix -- a competition between freshmen and sophomores that would become a festive and odd annual event at the school for years to come. Various events were held, always rigged so that the sophomores would win, even though the organizing upperclassmen always called it "the squarest mix." Often it was held in the fall on a saturday before a football game, with the UO football players and coaches acting as judges. http://www.campusattic.com/headline/underclass-mix
