Manchester City have today confirmed Jeoy Barton has a clause in his contract allowing him to speak to any club if an offer of 5.5m is made! I feel thats a good price for his age and ability, and would be a great signing! His all action style of play reminds me of a certain stevie gerrard, and could prrove to be a great buy! Does anybody else agree or disagree?
He's a good player. I wouldn't say great though, and you can see when he's playing he's better than his teammates. I watched him play tonight, yes it was agaisnt Championship opposition however he still played great. 5.5 million is a good price for him. Will be intresting to see who bids for him etc.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Joey Barton, the subject of a £5.5 million Everton bid, tonight vowed to stay with UEFA Cup place chasing Manchester City. Having crossed beautifully to create Citys opener against Sheffield Wednesday, the committed midfielder celebrated infront of the fans by repeatedly clutching and kissing the badge on his shirt. City went on to win the game 2-1, Barton taking the Man of the Match award with a compelling show of considered passing coupled with trademark and valuable tough tackling. Few ever thought that Barton would consider a return to the club that showed him the door as a youngster. He was rejected from Everton as a 15 year old because of a year long injury whilst in the youth squad. Such disloyalty shown to a player of very fragile age, was always now unlikely to be rewarded by Barton showing interest in a return to the Merseyside outfit. Such an expression of passion for City, repeated at the final whistle, has clearly now dispelled any idea that he may move elsewhere. The club, that has stood by him during some troubled times previously, is now looking forward to a decade of service from one of the fans favorites.</div>Never wanted him to join Everton, so good news.
