<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">AUBURN HILLS, Mich. ? The truth is Detroit will use a batch of different defenders against the Heat's Dwyane Wade from beginning to end in the Eastern Conference championship series.

The Pistons will do so from game to game, quarter to quarter and perhaps even possession to possession.

Wade, after all, is who and what he is, the most dynamic performer this side of Phoenix's Steve Nash in these here NBA playoffs. Or, in the opinion of Detroit coach Larry Brown, perhaps the most dynamic even including Nash.

"Dwyane Wade probably is playing as well as anybody in the league," Brown said Saturday afternoon.

A day later, Brown added that Wade is a "great finisher and a great passer."

Which is why the very deepest truth regarding Detroit's strategy in dealing with Wade is this: Tayshaun Prince.

All long and lean, Prince is the Pistons' real-life Gumby, with a rubbery wingspan expansive enough to cover Biscayne Bay or wherever else Wade might go.

"By committee, by committee, by committee," Prince said Saturday afternoon of the Pistons' plans for coping with Wade.

That's nothing if not the company line. And, in fact, Rip Hamilton and Chauncey Billups will get their turns on Wade.

But it's Prince who will be committee chairman. Not that he had changed his tune by Sunday afternoon.

"I'll say the same thing I said (Saturday)," Prince said. "Obviously, it's an important challenge. But we help each other out. That's the motto of this team."

And yet this is as good a place as any to reference the fact that Detroit is the reigning league champion due in no small part to the work Prince did on Kobe Bryant throughout last year's NBA Finals when the Pistons beat the Los Angeles Lakers in five games. It's why Prince will draw the primary assignment against Wade, or, at the very least, why he'll draw Wade whenever Detroit is most in need of a defensive stop.

    Shaquille O'Neal?

The Pistons pretty much will leave him to Ben Wallace regardless of how O'Neal feels physically with his bruised right thigh. That's what Detroit did to good effect in winning its title last season when The Big Escapee was healthy and still playing for the Lakers.

Wade will be Detroit's point of defensive emphasis, and Prince will be in charge of implementing the specific plan.

    What a delicious pairing.</div>

I dont feel that the Heat will need a "committee" to guard Wade...I think Prince can more than handle it...however, if he does drive, Ben will stick on Shaq, while Sheed will serve as a stopgap underneath...I think Rasheed might be the key to this series...If he can draw out Haslem and hit his treys, that only leaves Shaq to rebound...therefore I see rebounding to be huge in the series as well...

Wade dropped 40 in game 2, 20 coming in the 4th quarter.

    This begs the question:

Wade just destroyed Prince in Game 2. Prince just can't guard Wade, plain and simple.

Scorers can always have one great game against great defense. Wade made up for his poor shooting performance in game 1. Pistons will make adjustments and I don't expect Wade to play this great a game the rest of the way. He could but great defense doesn't normally allow that to happen more than once. Kobe had a great game two as well. He faded in the end. Wade of course is a different kind of player but could easily shoot like he did again in game 1.

Wade played the best he could and the Pistons were in the game. Bolds well for game 3 in Detroit.

You judge this on one game? how about the other 3 meetings were Prince held Wade to 39% shooting? You can't stop great scorers every game. It just isn't possible.

I completly agree that you can't great scorers every game. The two games they played during the season don't mean anything now that it's playoff time. Every player has a new mindset in the playoffs and that is a factor. Game 1 of the series Wade just played horrible. It was partly due to Prince's defense, but it was mostly to blame on Wade for not being ready for the series.

I'm not judging this on one game. I'm judging it on Wade's talent to score and beat his man.

That always seem to be the case when a top tier guard faces the Pistons

    "he played badly"

"he missed some shots he would never make"

    "He beat himself"

I've heard it all over the past few years when It comes to the Pistons facing the top guards in the NBA. Fact is no matter how good Wade is (and he is very good) He will have bad shooting nights against this Pistons team.

I also don't know how you can say that what Wade shot in the regular season doesn't matter what you make such a statement that Prince can't guard Wade. When he clearly can.

In Game 1, Prince did an excellent job on Wade and took him out of the game. That is why the Pistons won. In Game 2 Wade drops 40 points and the Heat win. This series all comes down to the Wade-Prince matchup and whoever gets the edge will win the games.

    HA, HA, HA, HA, HA!

Well it seems that Wade isn't a carbon copy of Kobe Bryant now is he... he not only dominated in Game 2 agaisnt the Pistons. But went to Detroit in the Palace and dropped 36 and 7 against such a "good defender" like Prince.
It really seems evident that so many peopel still doubt Wade, although he is seriously a top 5 player in the NBA... this proves everything. Happy times Detroit!

Anymore trolling from you and you will not be around much longer. Wade killed the Pistons more off screens than from one on one play. Pistons were a step slow from getting out to him and he simply dominated. Wade is a great talent but he is not a top 5 player in this league yet. I love the guy's game but I don't like the fact he is starting to get groupies like Kobe has, you posting what you did just there proves It.
