The Only Mock You Need Even Bother Reading

Here's the DADDY's version numero uno of this years draft. Take into consideration, upon my 2 trips coming up, this will drastically change, so as you see this mock change, that means the info is leaking in. Workouts and Camps will heavily influence this post later in the coming weeks. But, from my perspective, this is where I stand as of now, and why........

    NBA Draft Lottery 2005:

    1. Milwaukee- Andrew Bogut/ Just dont see them passing on a help now player who not only fills an immediate need, but allows Redd more freedom outside, as Bogut will not only draw, but may be one of the best passing bigs in some time.

    2. Atlanta- Chris Paul/Williams might have their eye, but Pauls's draw and ability to run the uptempo game they want with Smith, CHildress and Harrington trailing on the break, are we serious?

    3. Portland- Marvin Williams/The Pacific NW native comes back and is the kind of player Portland kind finally retool their image around. He will keep Portland fans backing this team, and Bassy just wet his pants with this pick.

    4. New Orleans- Gerald Green/The opportunity to grab him here does not slip past this franchise. A JR Smith/Green combo makes Magloire happy enough to play hard again, and boost attendence.

    5. Charlotte- Raymond Felton/Although Deron is still on the board, attracting locals and Felton's AMAZING workouts give him the draw over the Ilini product again. Adding pick 13 will quickly build this team.

    6. Utah- Deron Williams/The Jazz get lucky and dont blow it this year. They pick the most solid, least flawed point in the draft to re-run the show in Ute land

    7. Toronto- Danny Granger/The hottest prospect on the board. Another Paul Pierce? That's my comparison, and he goes 2 spots higher. T-Dot needs another guy they can cheer for, and him and Bosh are 2 hard working kids who you can build around.

    8. New York- Chris Taft/I say no, Isaiah says yes. They need more talent in the front court. He's the best left on the board.

    9. Golden State- Martynas Andriuskevicius/A certain someone might kill me for making this pick, however they need a big. Biedrins, the pick of a year ago, is still only 6-10 and they are now set from 1-3 and I do not see anyone on the board with the upside or talent to help now at the 3 to pick ahead of this kid. And judging from the fact the Arvydas Sabonis chose this kid as his first protege to train, says a lot.

    10. LA Lakers- Fran Vazquez/Spanish kid dips a little, but a big benefit to LA. They need bigs and this guy will WORK for LA. Something that cant be said of too many Euros, but he'll bang, eat glass and hustle alongside Odom.

    11. Orlando- Martell Webster/My personal fav out of the HS kids. He's gonna look good in Orlando blue and be a hell of a shooter spotting up next to Franchise and growing into the team. Who better to help him in the transition than D-Howard, who handled himself great this year.

    12. LA Clippers- Tiago Splitter/Give Eltono a break once and a while. Splitter can. Resigning Simmons and Jaric is a MUST Sterling! You listening!? If they dont, Antoine Wright could go here, but I think they beef up the front line.

    13. Charlotte- Antoine Wright/Teams with Felton to add to the Okafor, Brezec front court. Think a lineup of Felton, Wright, Gerald Wallace, Okafor, Brezec. That is why they overachieved. They are building right.

    14. Minnesota- Jarrett Jack/Does he not look like he could be Sam I Am's kid? Well he'll replace him, and be the UN-selfish point KG has always wanted. Finally a non-score first point who'll D up and run the team. Unlike Starbury, Brandon, and Cassell. I love this pick for Minne.

    15. New Jersey-Hakim Warrick/This kid is not K-Mart, but he's as close as you can get, just not as nasty. Those damn freaky 50 foot arms and that Pluto-esque jumping will fit in with Vince, and Jefferson. He will make the front court so LONG in NJ it's crazy. I like this team if they keep everyone all year and healthy!

    16. Toronto- Sean May/Tarheel number 3. His beef and charisma and heart will help Bosh and team with Granger to give TO faces to go with the franchise. He's a champion and will bring experience to this squad and some lumber alongside skinny Bosh.

    17. Indiana- Charlie Villenueva/Indiana is enamored with long freaks, and they could use some help for JO. I know Reggie is gone, but Artest is back and Freddie Jones got a LOT better. So the backcourt is ok, and his talent is extreme!

    18. Boston- Joey Graham/loving the last OSU rookie they got in Tony Allen, they grab Graham. Better scorer, adds to an already freaky athletic team, and guess what HE'LL PLAY D Boston fans. They could go big here too, maybe Frye.

    19. Memphis- Rashad McCants/This dam kid breaks my heart. But Jerry West knows talent. And if Wells is gone like they think, this kid can come off the bench or play beside Miller and give Memphis an ultimate scoring freak.

    20. Denver- Fransico Garcia/Nuggets need a wing. He's the most complete 2 on the board, and although guys like Stoudamire is a better shooter, Garcia is a better player, and has heart. He can also handle to lighten the load on Miller.

    21. Phoenix- Channing Frye/Keep the home kid, give Amare a center so he can move over. It's logical, he's a 7footer and he can run which, I dont know if you've noticed, Phoenix likes to do a little. Plus, he does something else, he plays D. Huh, Suns, what'cha think, maybe he doesnt fit in your system?

    22. Denver- Andrew Bynum/They have Camby and Nene and Elson, and K-Mart, so grab the kid, he slid this far, and develope him. He'll learn D from 2 great shot blockers, and could turn out to be a steal here. I dont think he's as hyped as they say, I think he's the anual smoke screen player.

    23. Sacramento- Johan Petro/Ok, so you pick guards, trade for a guard, now get your hands on a big. a 7 footer who can block shots and at least run and dunk which will go good in SacTown. I think this kid will turn out to be better than a lot of scouts are leading on. More are enamored with him than they lead on.

    24. Houston- Wayne Simien/Yao cant board, cant bang, and Mo Taylor and J-Howard have how much left? He's a winner and can relieve some low post pressure on Yao by being a threat himself.

    25. Seattle- Rudy Fernandez/You might lose Jesus, you may lose AD, so better get yourself a 2guard. This kid is very athletic and could be a pretty nice partner for Ridnour. Ah who am I kidding, Seattle is losing everyone, close your eyes and pick a name out the hat!

    26. Detroit-Louis Williams/Well is Larry Brown is coaching it isnt gonna matter. They dont play anyone who isnt a 5 year vet or a Prince. BUT, Detroit has already show a LOT of interest in him, and a team void of guys who can just GO OFF and score, Larry Brown may just show how much he really did love AI by drafting his Dirty Dirty Clone!

    27. Utah- Andray Blatche- Well, honestly, who else they gonna pick? Who else they need? Point was addressed. Boozer may be gone, they could use a wing, but no one here has instant value or upside like this kid. Nab the 7footer with the "KG like game" (sick of hearing that already) and just develope him.

    28. San Antonio- Ike Diogu/San Antonio fans miss Malik Rose, so they draft his better younger cousin. (not literally people) but he's a 6-8 banger, undersized PF who could line up next to TD or even Mohammad and provide tenacity. His scoring down low could take a huge burden off Duncan aswell.

    29. Miami- Eddie Basden/One Eddie gets old, take another. This kid is amazing! His D would be loved by Pat Riley and his offense is better than you'd think, but with Curtis Withers around, he hasnt had to score as much. Has more than just an NBA body, maybe WWE! He'd slide in well off the bench, but take a waiver on a point, maybe a guy like Nate Robinson (imagine that little backcourt full of dunks with him and Wade?

    30. New York- Julius Hodge/C'mon Isaiah, be smart, make the crowd cheer for once in NY, pick the damn hometown kid from Harlem who would love nothing more than to come home and lead his team back to something. You drafted big already, and remember the last ACC Player of The Year the leauge slept on? Josh Howard? Turned out to be a pretty good player huh. DAMN IT THOMAS, start being a GM! He reminds me of that Holiday Inn Express commercial. Excuse me Isaiah, are you a GM? No, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night! UUUUUUHHHHHGGGGGGGG!

I think I agree with this Mock the best. I noticed that you said you made this by what GM's are saying. What makes you think that Chris Paul will go to the Hawks rather then Marvin Williams?

Not only the log jam of wing players, but they dont just need a point guard, they NEED a point guard, and Paul's ability to run, and run and run, will fit their style. I know Billy Knight is enamored with Marvin, but he's made so many wrong moves. They young guys (other than Josh Smith) dont have enough value to dump for a good point and not draft Paul. Even though the Hawks have a ton of cap space, there are no points out there better than what CP brings in as a rookie.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">1) NBADraft.net received word late Thursday that Atlanta will likely use their (recently won in lottery) second pick in the draft on Marvin Williams and not Chris Paul as first thought. Though the team already has Josh Smith and Josh Childress, and has more of a need for PG, the team feels Williams is by far the best prospect available.</div>

And in the last couple days, there is a LOT of crazy hype going on here that Marvin Williams may indeed be the number one pick. That's where I am this weekend on my way down to Chicago. So, I hope ATL doesnt get too excited. Cuz if the draft was tonight, it appears Marvin is the man. Told you, my mock will change a LOT!

i think this mock is the best i've seen, but i strongly disagree with Sean May to the Raps at 16. I dont think they will spend a 1st rounder on a position that they have 2 young talented players currently occuping (Bosh, Bonner). I cant think of anyone remaining on the board according to your list, that the Raps really want, but i think it would be 2gaurd or even a Center, but not a undesized PF. Frye or Mccants??

Well, my reasoning behind May was to play along side Bosh. May is more of a traditional center, and at 6-9, in the Eastern Conf., he can play there. I felt (this is if I was a GM) his tenacity, strength, and beef on the front line would compliment the 6-11 Bosh very well. And if they can get Granger at 7 (which I have them doing) I feel his ability to play the 2 or 3, they, got their backcourt pretty locked with him and Jalen Rose (if he is back)

I like your mock best also, I like the little Louis Williams comment that gave me a little chuckle.

Much appreciated as always. From what I've heard so far, Louis Williams is doing a whole ot more in workouts than scouts thought he could do. However he still insists he could be a 2guard, and teams want to move him to the point.

Definitely a better than average mock. I'd be shocked if the Warrior's took Marty Andy...and right near seasons end, during a W's game the announcer said in the latest official measurement,Biedrens had reached an exact 7-0. He'd been called 6-11 all along,is quite young. The W's seem in a good spot to get a solid contributer, likely see a finish next year over .500,and so a lower slot in 06. As I have not seen the imports,Splitter,Vasquez,Petro,I typically won't commit,or advocate....unseen guys with no stats that say much,or raise red flags worry me,but a team CAN go dig up info beyond what I'll ever see and maybe some do match the hype. I see some teams willing to gamble on a mystery import or a promising HS guy,but I am sure some will say a bird in the hand is best and want a productive college player unlikely to flop. I suspect some team will take their gamble on Blatche or Bynum rather than an import who also would need work on fundamentals.
Hodge and Basden do belong in round 1,both bring a lot. Diogu will be top 15,he added a lot more quickness, shed some weight this season,as a result could play some SF in addition to PF
