<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Ever since Tuesday's NBA Draft Lottery dealt the Jazz the No. 6 selection in the league's June 28 draft, much talk in Utah has focused on the possibility of trading up. Multiple team officials have said that option will be explored. But one thing the Jazz won't do, owner Larry H. Miller suggested, is destroy the franchise's foundation. "I think we've got four really good players under contract," Miller said. The Jazz owner presumably was referring to forward Andrei Kirilenko, big man Mehmet Okur, forward Matt Harpring and big man Carlos Boozer. Miller said what he did knowing that might mean the Jazz are unable to draft the premier point guard they seek, be it Wake Forest University's Chris Paul or the University of Illinois' Deron Williams. "To be honest with you," Miller said, "we're just not willing to give up the core players I referred to ? which are the ones that would move us up at this point." Miller even suggested the Jazz's lone one-time All-Star among the foursome is untouchable.</div> <div align="center">Source</div>
well if they are still in the rebuilding process then they should defiantly put those names up. i might put up Matt harpring or Mehmet okur but not andrei because is is becoming a premier player and carlos might become a force in the coming years. If they want a good point guard, then they need to eaither trade up or hope that a team dosent pick chris paul or deron williams before them.
The Question should be WHY WOULD WE WANT TO TRADE KIRILINKO? WHICH IS NONE AT ALL. Kirilinko is a versatile, franchise player. If he didn't get hurt this season, I wouldn't been surprise to see him average 20 pts, 4 Assists, 5 Blocks, and 6.5 Rebounds a game. He does not play the best basketball and is certainly not one of the best players in the leage, but he is a game changer just like The Matrix(Shawn Marion). Carlos Boozer played a lot better than I thought he would've. Before the season, I knew he was a hard worker but I wanted Kenyon Martin to come here. But than I realize, Boozer can get it going if none of his teammates are on, but Kenyon needs his teammates to step it up all the time. Okur is not the most athletic guy in the world, but the man can play, he lives for game-winning shots, he lives to get the ball in the middle and light up the other team. The Jazz might be throwing these names out there, but they are not going to trade them, these players are young and still learning, the Jazz are not through with them yet. I think the biggest problem this year was that the team didn't play together, there wasn't the fire. But as these guys get to know each other better, and get a decent point guard, we're going to go back into running the playoffs. Portland might budge if we offer Matt Harpring, Kirk Snyder and a 1st round pick for the 3rd pick.
I like Harpring, but he's good trade bait they should use. I thought Utah played good with everyone but Boozer was the key. During Andrei return in February, they were on a roll WHEN BOOZER was on the court. He kept getting foul trouble. I think Deron Williams will make this team a top seed. They were said to be the 3 seed after week 1 by Bill Walton. They played awesome in the fast break from the defense Kirilenko played, it all depends who they get. Deron Williams will help the half court offense, Felton will help the Break.
I haven't watched any Jazz games at all this season, but the only untouchable that I would have i Iw ere the Jazz management would be Kirlienko, becasue he is the versatilve cornerstone, vital for the team's mprovement. However, I don't think any other name(or any name, for that matter) can beconsidered untouchable, the right deal might just come by.
Andrei Kirilenko is a huge part of the Jazz, and there's no reason for the Jazz to trade him. He has played in an All-Star game, is extremely versatile, and a great defender. He lead the league this season in BPG, despite having to overcome injuries. A player like him doesn't come along everyday, and Andrei should be able to keep improving. The Jazz have signed him to a large contract, and should build around him, not trade him.
