NBA Draft May Not Fill Jazz Needs

Saddled with the sixth selection as its top pick, the Jazz might not be able to extract from the June 28 NBA Draft the sort of ball-dishing, difference-making point guard for whom Larry H. Miller yearns.
Wake Forest University's Chris Paul could be gone by No. 6. Ditto for Deron Williams from the University of Illinois. Trading up could be tough, too.
Those prospects hardly make Miller happy.
"One way or another," he said, "we've got to have a point guard with distribution mentality.
"It's very clear from what happened to us last year," the Jazz owner added, "that we've got to have a point guard with some emotional stability, and a distribution mentality, that can help us control the game and play the game we like to play."
Where there is so much will, however, there might just be a way ? even if Williams and Paul slip away.
One would be by pursuing a veteran point, perhaps by trading down in the draft.
"We've got to stay so focussed on getting a point guard now," Miller said, "that we'd look at an option (like) that, if it got us there with certainty." </div>

I would love to see Utah get that Lithuanian guy and see if he's any good.

 

It has been made clear that the Jazz are after a Point Guard. But will they add one through the draft, trade or free agency? The Jazz would like to have someone they can consider their PG of the future, because now they dont. They should be able to get this through the draft. But, trading is likely to have more immediate benefits for the Jazz.

 

Re-sign John Stockton , no um, the best option for the Jazz is to trade up and either take Deron Williams or Chris Paul. Or to trade down for two picks and take Raymond Felton and Jarret Jack. There is no one in the free agency that is better than what we have right now, Keith and Lopez. Also, consider trading Matt Harpring or McCleod and looking for a 2 who can possible play point guard.

 

The Jazz should try and get Marko Jaric, and trade Harpring and draft Felton, then they're going to make the playoffs.
