Where does JBB rank Wade amongst Guards? The kid is simply BRILLIANT in the playoffs and always takes his game to another level.

Here's what Ron Artest had to say about Wade in the East Semi-Finals last year:
[IMG] [IMG]

He may not have the best jumper.. He may not have 3pt range. He may not be the most talented. But at the end of the day, he's the hardest guard to defend in the league, and that more than makes up for his other defficiences.

Tayshaun Prince said that Wade is even tougher to guard than Kobe Bryant. Mad props from the guy who shut down Kobe in the Finals.

I assume ur talkin bout just 2 guards.?? hes' probably in the top 5..... here's my list

1) Kobe Bryant 2) Lebron(if he's playin 2) 3)T-Mac 4) WADE 5)....Allen ????

i know Kobe didnt have the best of seasons... but let's not forget what kind of performances we have seen from the guy. Let's not jump on the bandwagon just cuz we see Wade 2-3 times a week!

Wade is one of my favorite players, but I think its premature to call him the top guard in the league just after one playoff run. McGrady was playing just as well (if not better) in the first round, and who knows what LeBron or Kobe might have done in these playoffs. Wade is fortunate to be part of a very good Miami Heat team, and so he's getting all the exposure right now (just like Kobe was part of a very good Lakers team in years past).

Wade is great, no doubt, but he is flourishing this year so much because of Shaq. I'd rank him in the top 5... Kobe, LeBron, Tmac, Arenas or Wade, Arenas or Wade...

Hardest guard to defend? I?m not to sure about that, you seem to have forgotten about Allen Iverson. I?ll admit he gives Iverson competition for that label, but he is not hardest to guard compared to the ?Shaq of the perimeter? aka Iverson. With Iverson decline in a couple years or so and Wade progression I'd say Wade will be the hardest to defend, but with Iverson still flirting around with his prime there is not another guard that?s harder to defend. Well anyways, here is where I rank Wade.

1. Kobe Bryant
2. Allen Iverson
3. Jason Kidd (He seems like a ghost in everyone discussions among the best guards now a days)
4. Tracy McGrady
5. LeBron James
6. Dwyane Wade

I don't know if you can say Wade is the hardest player to guard, but Wade is definitely a challenge and is amongst the leagues elite at a very young age. He is almost a lock for superstardom in the NBA if he continues his play. Some will make the argument he is a superstar now. Anwyay, I think Wade is behind these players in no particular order:

Kobe Bryant: Very tough to guard. An established superstar in the NBA who does it all on both ends of the floor. He's simply a nightmare for the opposition and is as clutch as they come. In addition, he also has the experience of three championship rings.

Tracy McGrady: He's a super athletic 6'8 who is a phenominal scorer and arguably the best today. He can drive and take it to the hole strong, and he can also shoot the trey. He is simply a scoring machine and his height and athleticism give him the nod over Wade.

Allen Iverson: Another better scorer than Wade in my opinion. Iverson droping 60 points and leading the league in scoring this season should sum it all up; especially considering this guy is only a six-footer. It is almost impossible to keep in front of him even at age 29!

LeBron James: James has developed a better jumpshot than Wade (especially from the three) and is 4 inches taller than him. I think they're equally as good, I just think James is the better scorer, however, not by much at all. Simply because of those two factors

It can be argued other guards such as Stephon Marbury or Steve Francis are just as hard to guard as Wade or even more. So even though Wade has turned into a menace on the offensive end, I still think he has a little ways to go before I can consider him the most unstoppable guard in the NBA.

The thing you have to recognize when ranking those guards is that Wade rarely gets double-teamed, due to Shaq's presence and the great shooters he's surrounded with.

Kobe, LeBron, Iverson and even Ray Allen get double teamed more than him. So when you allow someone like Wade to play one on one, chances are that he'll school your butt, regardless of who you are.

I'm not taking anything away from him, he's a fabolous player, but Shaq's presence along with EJ, DJ, KD, ..etc is THE MAIN reason he's getting those opportunities.

I agree with everyone else...Wade is a great great talent, but hardest guard in the league? I dont think so...I'd say AI, LeBron, Kobe, TMac and Ray Allen are just as hard to cover...I'm not sure if Wade is even in the top 5 of guards...

I also think its important to note that Wade scores ONE way, and thats by his drives to the basket and getting free throws...he CAN be stopped if you make him shoot all day...thats another edge that players like AI, Kobe and LeBron have over Wade, is that they can score in a variety of ways and can shoot a whole lot better, particularly from 3-point range...

Wade isn't the most versatile offensive player, but he does score in more than one way. He mostly drives, but he has developed a pretty nice jumpshot from inside the arc. If he ever develops some good range, he will be extremely hard to stop.

I rank Wade below the like of lebron, kobe, and tmac, but he isnt very far behind them at all. Next season that all may change.

Not the hardest to guard in the league although I he lands a #3 spot on my list. My list looks something like this.

1.Kobe
2.T-Mac
3.Wade (Pretty much tied with Lebron)

But Flash still has a lot of time to develop. He may not be the best right now, but he is showing in the playoffs this year he definatly has a chance to become the hardest guard to defend in the league. He just needs to work on his shooting consistancy, because he shows a trmendous amount of heart and is great when the game is on the line. But right now, Kobe And T-Mac are more difficult to defend.

Its funny how everyone is saying Wade is not the hardest to guard as if they've guarded wade and all the guards themselves before.

Regardless of who it is, it's dangerous to call a player "The hardest guard" I wouldnt call him the hardest to guard just yet.
He could be listed as "one of the hardest guards".
I love Wade but i do think he has a lot of homeworks this off-season.
But to say that he has only one way to score is a dumb statement. You should call Sir Charles and join his crew to make "dumb, dumber, dumbest and sir charles"

^that may be B.Esco. But be honest, who would you rather guard, Kobe/Tmac or Wade?

Its not a question about who you'd rather defend its whos harder to defend. I would rather defend Tmac out of the three but whos to say (besides players who have guarded them) that Tmac is harder to guard than dwane wade.

The point is that they all are hard to guard. They all are extremly quick, can school you anytime they want. I don't see the point of debating who's tougher to guard tho cuz they all are defender's nightmare.

When you consider that everyone is saying he doesn't have that good a jumpshot [though his mid-range J isn't bad at all], doesn't have 3PT range, and mostly drives, yet he's still able to constantly get in the lane, then he's definately one of the hardest guards to guard.

Did I see Stephon Marbury mentioned? He's good and all, but he's not in the same league as these guys we're talking about. He's a good scorer, but not on the same level.

He's definately in the Top 10 in perimeter players: McGrady, Vince, Wade, Kobe, Iverson, Arenas, Lebron, Pierce, Allen. Their's guys like J-Rich and Redd also, but they aren't as explosive scorers as the rest of the guys, but just right below.

Wade is definitely a very hard player to defend, but like Purple Fever said he doesn't get the attention that most of the other premier players receive from opposing defenders. Even though Wade will likely attract the best on ball defender from every team, he still has it easier offensively then players such as Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, and LeBron James.

I completely forgot about Iverson also. Wade isn't one of the premier guards yet in my eyes, I don't think he has accomplished enough to do that. Playing alongside Shaq has certainly helped him, but when Shaq leaves, Wade will get the same pressures that Kobe has right now...

Wade even when Shaq was out was shooting over 45-50% and did so during his rookie season. His style of play is so tough to defend. He is so quick with the first step and has great body control, knows how to get to the line and finish. He is a natural scorer and a guy who can basically do It all. He is only going to get better and the way he has done against the Pistons defense compared to what Kobe did last year has been amazing. Or maybe Wade is just a much smarter player than Kobe Is. I never thought It would be possible to think Wade was as good or better than Kobe heading into this season but now I'm starting to think he may well be. Even Bruce Bowen has alot of trouble guarding Wade. As Artest did last year. If those two can't guard him, why else has a shot at doing so?
