<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Alexander won't sign $6.32M tender By Jos? Miguel Romero Always one to speak his mind, Shaun Alexander's message came through loud and clear. He won't play unless he gets a long-term contract, but he remains confident that will happen. Otherwise, Alexander is prepared to sit and wait, even into the regular season. Alexander said signing the team's $6.32 million franchise tender is "out of the question." When asked if it will come down to not playing without a long-term deal, he replied, "Pretty much, yeah."</div> Full story here: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/spor...095_hawk04.html What is it with the Seahawks and running backs, anyway? Didn't they pull similar shenanigans with Ricky Watters and basically push him into retirement prematurely?
well i guess i understand i mean he wants to have a long term commitment somewhere, how many times has he been franchised... i mean there have been guys like Peterson on the 49ers that have been franchised for three years straight. hopefully when he says longterm deal hes not looking for sooooo much money.
I don't know what the Seahawks are thinking... I mean seriously. A one year deal for $6.35 million? They'd be better off with a long term deal just for salary cap purposes. Example: A three year deal with a $9 million signing bonus with a $1.5 million base salary per year would give Alexander $9 million guaranteed ($10.5 million if you count the first year money) and only count $4.5 million per year against the cap for the Seahawks. He's in his prime and should be rewarded, if you ask me. Obviously HE feels the same way.
Why would someone not want to sign a star running back to a long term deal? He has given so much to the seahawks and the least the team can do is sign him to a long term deal. And if he doesnt sign his one term deal you are screwed, so why not give him what you want. It is a win-win situation, Alexander is happy, and Seahawks get to keep their running back like 4 or 5 more years

Alexander is no doubt worth it but I can't see a team not jumping on the fact that all the seahawks are asking for is a 2nd rnd pick. Someone who needs a back with cap should jump all over that.
yea i dont understand why teams arent going after him, he almost won the rushing title last year (he lost to Curtis "My Favorite" Martin!) and all they are asking for is a 2nd rounder. Thats a huge steal...
Alexander is the man. I say him break a huge run, he was flying and breaking tackles. Alexander is worth a 1st round pick so i dont know why teams are not jumping on him. The Cardinals should pick him up because Arrington needs time to devolp.
i would try and sign him they need him, despite the cap room i'd do everything in my power to keep this guy
wait till after preseason when teams are scrambling for a RB, cuz either 1 of theres got hurt, or they want insurance, or theyre not happy with the 1s they have now. if alexander was gonna move this offseason, hed have moved by now, same with henry, right now teams are gonna see what they have and if there not happy then some1 will go after shaun alexander or travis henry.
Henry is gonna be traded, but i dont think the seahawks are gonna trade Alexander. They dont have anyone right now on their roster that could start besides him. Henry is a expensive backup and the Bills are gonna get rid of him
