Arrington will climb onto that list I think once he's further in his career.

That is completely different. Granted I doubt Harrington climbs on the top 5 but when he is healthy he is a solid player. No doubt about it. A lot of hype? Yea every buddy is hyped up when drafted but that don't mean they get voted in. There are many examples of hype up players who don't get in.

No, he is overhyped after he got in league. Not before. Like alstott. Totally unworthy of pro bowl, but still gets to them

I will say Alstott is unworthy of the Pro Bowl but in Harringtons 5 year career the year he went to the pro bowl he was worthy. I don't know how many pro bowls he has in his career off the top of my head since I don't care about Pro Bowls but it can't be more than 2.

if you look at his career numbers, Arrington is way overhyped....and I know what will be said, "numbers arent everything"...and thats true, but this is a guy that runs around blocks and free lances all the time, if you do that, you should be putting up monster stats....I would go as far as to say that I would not take him on my team, hes too big of a liabilty because of the way he plays....lets take a look at the numbers:

    66 Games Played....279 Tackles....4.2 Tackles per game....
    22.5 sacks....0.34 sacks per game
3 interceptions....10 forced fumbles....0.196 turnovers forced per game

to put the numbers into perspective, that means he gets a sack every 3rd game and causes a turnover evevy 5th game....that makes his average 16 game numbers look like this:

67 tackles, 5 sacks, 3 turnovers forced....not exactly lighting it up....in comparasion, I will use the stat line of a LB that no one mentioned, but has had a nice career....I doubt you would find anyone that would suggest this guy is a HOFer:

    Donnie Edwards

    142 games....1066 tackles.....7.5 tackles per game
    16 sack....0.112 per game
22 interceptions....10 forced fumbles....0.225 turnovers forced per game

that equates to a 16 game average of:

120 tackles, 2 sacks, 4 turnovers forced....very comparable with Arrington rushing the passer more and Edwards making more tackles....

Simply put, Arrington is not even close to being a top 5 LB in the league today, he would have to pick his game something fierce to ever have a chance to get near the Top 5 ever list....

I don't think I would put Arrington as a top 5 LB in the league, but he is close. He is one of the rare exceptions, in my opinion, of a player who doesn't get the stats, but is a key to a very good unit. There is no arguing that Washington has a stud defense. Arrington is the anchor of that unit. He seems like the type of player that provides the moxy for a group of very talented players.

Granted, this is all conjecture and there is nothing I can present that will back it up other than the fact that he is playing on a team that has an outstanding and punishing defense. I would hope he would find the bench if he wasn't the caliber player that would fit in on such a fine unit.

Whats too bad is a guy like Arrington gets voted into pro bowls while Teddy Bruschi...who could easily have been the defensive player of the year last season...needs to be an injury replacement...and Rodney Harrison is a consistent snub....its all about who pats the most players on the ass...not actual skill.

That is exactly why I don't pay attention to the Pro Bowl and why the Pro Bowl doesn't even matter much.

While I would agree that Donnie is not top 5 material, he is a good solid contributor. He hustles, plays smart and within his skill set, and he's a good guy off the field. I have really missed him shoring up the middle of my Chief's defense. I was discouraged when we let him get away.
