I know our team is pretty set but what do you think we need in this years draft. I think we could use a backup for DJ someone like Nate Robinson or some one who can replace Haslem in the future like Andray Blatche.

I doubt that Zo will come back whether we win it all or not, so i say we go for another quality big man. We already got many shooters and slashers. I don't know how but i hope we somehow bring Swift to Miami.

Get a quick and tall PF/C. That would be perfect for the Heat. Plus, they could afford to wait on him. Andray Blatche, Andrew Bynum etc.

A big. Doesn't matter if it's a PF or C, take the best big available. Some names that come to mind are Randolph Morris, Ronny Turiaf, Andray Blatche and Ike Diogu. The guy I would take if he's there is Ronny Turiaf because he's a hard nose, good lost post defender with good rebounding skills. If Haslem elects to go somewhere else for the money, then you can add Turiaf in, who can make the impact Haslem made, with the size and defense to hold down the opposing PF's.

The Lakers get their 1st Round Pick next season.

As for the draft needs, the Heat could certainly use some young depth in the frontcourt. Shaq, Zo, Laettner, and Doleac are all quite old. Haslem is a free agent, who says he wants to return, but other teams might be able to offer more for his services.

The Heat might also be looking for another combo guard if Damon Jones cashes in somewhere else in free agency.

We need a PF/C because we might lose Haslem to free agencey and who knows if Zo will be able to play another year.

I'd like to draft a shot blocking and rebounding PF that can knock down 3s and can contribute instantly.

    JBB's 2005 Mock Draft (v5)

Quote:

[IMG] 29 - Miami Heat - David Lee -
Position:: PF, Height: 6-9, Weight: 240lbs., Age: 22, (4/29/83) Team: University of Florida
    Statistics: 13.6 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.1 spg, 0.8 bpg, 53% FG, 0% 3pt, 71% FT, 28.0 mpg

Lee is an intriguing prospect because of his many offensive talents. Although a post player, Lee has athleticism and leaping ability that you don?t find in some wing players. As his numbers at Florida show, he also has a very solid work ethic and is usually very intense and aggressive. His footwork and positioning in the post are terrific, but he also he lacks a serious outside game. When you take that into consideration, along with the fact that he has a relatively weak body, Lee could be a tweener in the NBA. He?ll need to bulk up and prove he can compete against bigger forwards in the NBA to be a first round pick, but he has impressed enough scouts and GM?s so far to get heavy consideration as one.

The Heat are set at Point Guard, Shooting Guard, Small Forward, and Center but might lose Udonis Haslem, Christian Laettner, Wang Zhizhi, or Alanzo Mourning to Free Agency, so they?ll definitely need to add another lowpost player in the draft. This pick is really a tossup. There are three or four Power Forward who could go to the Heat, but we?ll give David Lee the edge for now. He?s better offensively than any big man that the Heat have outside of Shaq right now. They struggle getting offensive productivity in the post when Shaq is on the bench. Not only would the University of Florida graduate be a fan favorite, but he could also be leverage for his former teammate, Udonis Haslem, to return in a Heat uniform.

I don't really see Lee as a the best choice for the Heat. They need someone who can bang inside, play tough D, grab boards and do some dirty work (Turiaf) even if Haslem returns. As Shape mentioned, Laettner, Zo and Doleac are all relatively old (not so much Doleac, but he's Doleac). The Heat are very high on Dorrell Wright and believe he could provide scoring. Wade, Shaq and Jones should provide the Heat with a lot of scoring, and they believe Wright will get them some as well. We might even see a Wade-Wright-E.Jones starting lineup sometime next season. The Heat will what Turiaf brings more than what Lee brings.

The 2nd year is a PO.
