<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- The Knicks worked out North Carolina's championship point guard Raymond Felton yesterday. Felton demonstrated his quickness, his improving shooting ability and especially his supreme confidence. Felton, who might be the most talented player available to the Knicks when they select No. 8 in the NBA Draft later this month, could even see himself displacing Stephon Marbury at point guard. When asked if he would welcome being drafted by a team with an established one guard, Felton said it would be no problem because Marbury could move to the wing. </div> Source
I love Ray Felton adn all but saying that if the knicks draft him that Marbury would have to move to the wing is a little disrespectful. elton has never done anything except play on a title team. That doesn't mean a thing in the NBA. Marbury is an accomplished guard in this league and Felton has no right telling him what to do.

If you ask me Felton's already more accomplished, I don't care about Marbury's individual numbers which you can bring at me all day
Felton was just saying that him and Marbury could be a good tandrem together, because he feels Marbury is capable of being a 2 guard. Also saying he feels he is that he can prove himself to start.

Sure he won a title but until he shows that he can play in the league then he has to shut his mouth.

I'd certainly say that Mateen Cleaves is more accomplished, because from my perspective, being one of the greatest college Point Guards of all-time and leading a team to a National Championship is far more of an accomplishment than putting up decent stats for a few years in the NBA. Stephon Marbury is a more accomplished player than Mateen Cleaves on the statistical or NBA level, but when you're talking about winning or college success, Mateen has quite the edge on Starbury.
Cleaves was good in college ill give him that, but so was Marbury, and unlike Cleaves his game carried over to the NBA.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting playmaker31:</div><div class="quote_post">Cleaves was good in college ill give him that, but so was Marbury, and unlike Cleaves his game carried over to the NBA.</div> Well, Marbury was good, but Cleaves was great. To me they're uncomparable. Marbury has one good year at Georgia Tech, where his team had a 24-12 record, but then he bolted to the pro's. Mateen Cleaves had four outstanding years. He led Michigan State to the Big Ten title every year he was in college, as well as the Sweet Sixteen, two Final Fours, and a National Championship (including one year with an amazing 33-5 record!). His statistics were also extremely strong. In only his Sophomore year, he recorded 16.2 ppg and 7.2 apg. Compare those stats to Raymond Felton's 12.9 ppg and 6.9 apg this year or Deron Williams' 13.5 ppg and 6.8 apg this year. Even Chris Paul, who was a Sophomore this year, didn't put up those great of statistics. The fact that Marbury went on to put up good numbers in the NBA may mean something to you, but there are a lot of people who only follow college basketball. Are you going to tell them that their Championships and their MVP's mean nothing, because 'accomplishment' is a term defined by NBA success?
I dont see whats wrong with him saying Marbury can go out to the 2 spot...he can. Lets face it Marbury is a shooting gaurd the way he wants to score the ball doesnt meet the traditional pass-first point guard. I mean what else are you gunna do, put Felton at the 2? no, marbury would do fine there. I said along time ago that the Knicks should draft a good pass first point gaurd and use their 30th to draft a solid swingman. Then they could trade Marbury along with some of their expiring contracts for another swingman and they'd be set. But i got booed in the Knicks forum because apparently its smarter to draft Splitter and have him be the 7th powerforward for 2-3 years till he can play center. lol.

He certainly does know how to score, but that doesn?t mean it would be the right spot for him full time. If Crawford was on the floor with him than yes, it might be worth a try, however, having two players in the backcourt who are 6?2 and below doesn?t seem to be a great idea. If Marbury was a defensive liability at point guard, than you can only imagine what type of enjoyment he will give to players who are almost half a foot taller than him. Unless Marbury is gone on draft night, I would be a bit hesitant drafting Felton. Certainly getting someone with Felton?s skills would be nice, but he doesn?t have the luxury of an unoccupied position. The fact of the matter is a 40 minutes per game, all-star caliber, franchise player is at that position getting paid 16 million. At this stage, I think a swingman or a big man would be more valuable to the Knicks than a pass-first point guard. Besides, Marbury has been the most unselfish he?s ever been throughout his entire career and is looking for his teammates more. The Knicks main concern has been on the defensive end and getting someone like Granger who excels on the defensive end is a priority in my opinion. I?m in favor of putting Granger or Ariza at shooting guard and having Crawford come off the bench as an explosive 6th man. Splitter is probably pulling out of the draft now so that?s irrelevant. Many thought having a seven-foot athletic, long armed player would be able to contribute where our main concern was; shot shot blocking which would bail out our terrible perimeter defense. If Felton is available at #8, the Knicks will more than likely draft him because they said they will draft the best player available regardless of position and most likely draft a player a different position with their 30th pick.
