"I don't remember anybody ever scoring 40 a game, so I guess he'd be No. 1," San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said. Stoudemire's abilities to run like a guard, score in transition, draw fouls and score in the post have earned him that in Popovich's eyes. After Wednesday's huge game, Stoudemire had scored more than 30 points in every game against the Spurs in the regular season and the playoffs. His 42 points and 16 rebounds in Game 5 were almost enough to save the Suns. "His second jump is quicker than anybody's, except maybe Shawn Marion," Popovich said. "We thought he was the most improved player since last year, but when you are already that good, you don't get that award. "It doesn't work like that. His shot is tremendous compared to what it was when he came into the league. He has got the whole package." </div> Source
Amare was awesome during the SA series..He's definitely a top 5 player in the NBA right now. I havent seen an unstopable force in the playoffs other than Shaq in recent years. But I wonder if he'll be as good without Nash. I guess we'll see in a few years...
I think he'll be as good with out Nash, because he can still post up and is quick enough to get into the lane, all Nash was doing was making Amares job easier with his nice dimes. Amare is amazing, hes been amazing this entire playoffs.
I think he would be good without Nash, not quite as good, but then the team as a whole would struggle a lot more without Nash.

Nash and Amare pose one of the toughest assignments in the NBA with their inside-out/pick-and-roll comibination. Amare wouldn't get many of the points he did without Nash. He might make up for some of them, but he would have to work much harder. You just can't plug in any point guard in replacement of Nash and expect Amare to have the same type of productionas he did this post-season and season in a whole. Nash has eyes at the back of his head, he's more unselfish then most of the PG's in the league, he's an excellent passer, he's a great decision maker and he's a great scorer inside and outside. The only player that I can see fitting under this is Jason Kidd, who isn't quite the lights out shooter Nash is. None the less, Amare Stoudemire already is one of the best bigs and overall players in the league. Even without lil Steven, Amare will have great sucess in the NBA because 1) He's only 22 and still improving, 2) He possesses something rare in strength, explosiveness and quickness 3) He's determined. Those are the only real factors you need to know in order to believe that he'll be a great player for years to come.
amare was the **** in the S.A. series but what disapointed me the most was the play of shawn marion. he only averaged 7.8 ppg!!! hes supposed to be a superstar and come out with at least 15-16 a game. but he did have first team defense tim duncan on him.
Not taking anything from Amare but it was hard for Duncan to guard him yea. Its just a bad matchup for him. Although Amare deserves tons of credit it will be fun to see how much he progresses after this yr.
