A poster on the "Club Lakers", draft mesage board said that ESPN's Chad Ford reported that the lakers were looking to trade up to the 4th spot in the draft. If anyone has access to "THE INSIDER" report; tell us whats up.

If anyone has access to "THE INSIDER" report; tell us whats up.</div> I read the article today and basically it's just another Chad Ford fabricated rumor. He invisions the Lakers trading Caron Butler and the #10 pick to move up to #4. I don't think any player is worth two potential starters at #4 for the Lakers. It's not like the Lakers have a surplus of depth on their roster. Let's assume the trade goes down, who do the Lakers draft at #4 ... at best Chris Paul drops there, at worst Deron Williams or Gerald Green. I don't think Chris Paul or Deron Williams is dramatically better than Jarrett Jack or Raymond Felton, who could possibly be drafted at #10. Gerald Green is not ready to play right away, and there's no guarantee he will even be as good as Caron Butler right now. It's great for the Hornets, but why would the Lakers want to get the raw end of another trade.
I would love to trade up to 4 if we could get Chris Paul. That is it, I don't know if I'd be willing to let go of Caron either. Jack or Felton are suitable enough, both upgrades over Atkins in my eyes.
why are the lakers lookin at Guards?? just IMO... i think they should do something to their frontcourt... Lamar can play the point if need be... they can easily get a good big man from where they're sittin without giving up Caron.

Last year the PG spot was one of the worst in the league with Chucky Atkins and Tierre Brown. If Lamar is still on the team he will likely run the offense, but they will still want Lamar playing in the paint because he's currently the best rebounder on the team. Fortunately for the Lakers this draft is PG and PF rich, so they should be able to address both needs with their 3 picks. However after Bogut, Vazquez, Frye and possibly Bynum, the big man talent becomes a choice of selecting an undersized PF or taking a gamble.
instead of trading caron butler, why doesn't the lakers offer lamar odom? or does no one want him? cuz caron played pretty well at the end of the season, and i would hate to see him go for a rookie who will probably not have that much impact next year. i mean, if we get pick #4, derion williams(spelling), andrew bougut, and chris paul most likely will be gone. so who do we draft?
They won't trade Odom if PJax returns as headcoach. He wants to run the Triangle with Odom and Kobe, because he sees the most upside with those two. He thinks the Lakers used Odom wrong last season and wants a chance to work with him. If the Lakers will have to use Butler as trade bait. Odom is also hard to trade because of his trade kicker and the question marks surrounding his shoulder injury.
