<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">We outsource the big-man job to China, Eastern Europe and now Down Under, where Bogut was born to Croatian immigrants and grew up to help teach us how to play our own game again.

He won every major player-of-the-year award in college basketball last season, his sophomore year at Utah. He has been called the best-passing big man since Bill Walton, a more athletic and committed version of Vlade Divac. Throw in his economy of movement -- the way he works the angles, understands the concept of using the glass and his shooting range -- and Bogut has a little Tim Duncan in his game, too.

"He's really a different breed when it comes to American players because of his attitude and demeanor," Bogut said of his favorite NBA player. "Tim has got a cockiness in a way that he's not cocky. He'll dunk on somebody, but he won't say nothing. They run back the other way, dunk on him and yell in his face. He'll come back, hit a jump shot. Won't say nothing. It's an awesome way to play, I think."</div>

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Bogut was asked for specifics of the American attitude toward the game, what he does not like. Guess who's name came up?

"There's no one I really hate, but Kobe [Bryant] had a demeanor of being very cocky," he said. "What happened with Shaq. . . . If I had a chance to play with Shaq or Tim, if they told me to buy them groceries, I don't care, I buy them groceries. It's a gift to play with somebody like that. Kobe is probably one of the guys that, everybody knows it, he's got that cocky arrogance to him, everything has to surround around him the whole time. Otherwise, he doesn't function. That's the biggest example.

"If you're playing with Shaquille [O'Neal], a Hall of Famer, you keep your mouth shut and play if you want more rings," Bogut continued.</div>

If I were Kobe I would make sure I emberrass Bogut when he plays me. Give him a couple of posters.

I agree with everything Bogut said but hes gotta keep his mouth shut.Hes insulting a great NBA player. Hes not even in the league yet. Bogut hasnt made any type of name for himself yet.

When Kobe and Bogut play Bogut better play well and WIN. Kobe needs to earn his respect back and have a good season because hes now getting insults from rookies. future rookies....

Lol, Bogut acts like he was on the Lakers during the whole thing. And he shouldn't be talking about how cocky Kobe is especially when Bogut hasn't played a single second in an NBA game. For all we know Shaq could have been more of an asshole than Kobe (though highly unlikely). I think Bogut will be a good player in the NBA but if he is a bust then he will look like quite an idiot looing back on this.

I actually agree with Bogut on this matter and I hope that on Kobe's first shot he sends it into the third row. But Kobe got what he wanted, and now look where he is, in the lottery.

First of all, I detect a lot of subtle racism lying below the surface in this thread. Is he becoming the new Yao? Posterize him because he's different and good?

Who is he? He is the best player in all of college basketball, that's who. Like it or not, he has a right to speak his mind. Nobody yells "Posterize him!" everytime you make a negative post about a player, do they?

Anyway, does everyone not realize there is 100% truth to that? Bogut is saying that you can't be cocky when you're playing with a Hall of Fame player, and you have to be humble. Is that a bad thing?

I don't even think he meant for it to be disrespectful. Notice he said "There's no one I really hate" and says "Tim has got a cockiness" about Duncan, yet he goes on to praise him. Cockiness isn't necessarily a negative trait.

Anyway, I'd honestly like to see Bryant drive on Bogut, simply because I doubt he would be able to get a dunk off on him. If anyone has actually seen Bogut, he's not the type to let anyone get a dunk on him. You'd have to be pretty powerful, like an Amare Stoudamire or an Al Harrington to dunk on Bogut.

racism? care to elaborate? cause i detect none

nothing against bogut, but KB would easily dunk on Bogut. He's not exactly a great defender, and i remember Duncan hammering one home against him.

^...it's Timmy, lest not forget how good a job he did on him.

I agree with voodoo, except on the racism score. I really don't see that part. But, anyway, he was asked a question, he answered with the truth, he didn't want to bash kobe, he stated his oppinion, and for a future 1. pick in the draft, and the best college ball player out right now, I think he can have his say. If he did say something else, he would be lying. It's not like he making a personal attack on kobe, you guys are just overreacting.

The racism comment was a joke and a referrence to the 1,000 racism threads that were recently in the NBA forum. I apologize that you didn't pick up on it.

I think Bogut is an excellent defender. I'm not going to argue as something as hypothetical as who Kobe Bryant could dunk on, but for a 7-0'er, Bogut is no stiff.
