Houston Rockets star Yao Ming, looking to become a stronger player, has hired the team's former strength and conditioning coach as his personal trainer.

Anthony Falsone resigned from the Rockets last month.

"He's worked with me for a long time," Yao told Houston television station KRIV tonight. "If you go see the posters they show the fans outside, the difference between the first year and right now shows the good work he did."

Falsone, who will travel with Yao to China, said he hopes to help take the player to another level.

"In strength and conditioning, the thing that makes you successful is the consistency over long periods of time," Falsone said. "With Yao, now my situation is going to be when he's in China, I'm there. When he's here, I'm here. That's availability to him 100 percent of the time."

Yao average 18.3 points and 8.4 rebounds per game during the regular season. The Rockets lost to the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs.

It's Great to see Yao wanting to improve his game. I saw this story on the news and they seem to be more focused on Yaos stamina. I can't wait for next year. If Yao gains stamina it can help him in every part of his game. Points will go up and he will have more energy for those blocks and rebounds. And if he also gains strength that will just boost his confidence when hes banging inside.

wow I never realized Falsone had resigned...I thought he did a great and consistent job considering all the strong forwards and guards that have ran through the Rockets organization during his tenure...

    Why did Falsone resign?

Either ways, it's great for Yao to have someone who knows his condition as his personal trainer. Falsone is one of the best conditioning coaches in the NBA and his expertise should help Yao continue making progress strength and conditioning wise.

It seems like the same story ran last summer, about Falsone joing Yao in China and being his personal trainer. Hopefully, he makes significant progress in the appopriate areas.

This is the perfect case scenario for Yao Ming. He gets Anthony Falsone a world class trainer, one who he trusts and has worked with in the past. The difference between last year and this year is that this year Falsone can concentrate 100% on Yao and not have to worry about any of the other Rockets players.

If Falsone really wants to toughen Yao up, he needs to get him over to Westside Tennis Club to work out with the big boys as often as possible.

Finally, time fo Yao to get strong and dominate. Now all the Houstons need to do is make Yao mad before each game, he plays so much better.
Ya'll saw when the Miami(think it was em) pissed him off, he dunked right over Shaq, it was nasty.

That's great to hear. Now all Yao needs is to play some pick up ball with the fellas in the offseason. I think this will give him a little more toughness, and help him for the regular season. LOL. Picture Yao sittin under the basket like, "I got next". That's Halarious
