Gilbert Considering Purchasing A Draft Pick
    6th June, 2005 - 12:18 am
Beacon-Journal - Dan Gilbert said during a Cleveland business luncheon appearance on Thursday that he wants to get the Cavaliers back into the draft.

He has two options if he so chooses.

He can trade for a pick that belongs to another team.

Or the NBA has said you can pay up to $3 million to buy a pick

    .........

You can actually pay the league to get pick I have never heard of a thing like this..... I read it an was like huh ????? If you can pay for a pick why doesn't Dan S go out and buy a pick for the Sixers if this is what you can do... What is the catch there has to be one do you forfit a pick another year or did I just read it and not know what I was reading ?

Yeah, you can buy a pick.I think the Sixers will buy the last pick in the draft to give it to Detroit or we're gonna give #45 to Detroit and buy some player that has been drafted like we did with Korver (and Green?)

You don't pay the leauge, you pay the team that is willing to sell their pick. Lets say the hawks wanted to sell a pick, thne someone gives them cash in exchange for a pick. The 76ers have bought picks in the past including buying a second round pick from the Nets that landed Kyle Korver.

How many times has this happened......... Has it ever happened in the first round would we be able to get someone to sell us there top 10 pick or is that a little high and a better chance of getting something like 20-30 ?

I know the Hornets and Atlanta are cheap and stuff but would they really just give us a pick.... Maybe Atlanta would be willing to trade us the pick for Webber [IMG]

I would grab Marvin Williams or Chris Paul if we could get up there and maybe grab say a Luther Head or Jason Maxiell with out 45 pick depending on what we did with that first pick......

    Allen Iverson
    Luther Head
    Andre Iguodala
    Marvin Williams
    Sammy

    Chris Paul
    Allen Iverson
    Andre Iguodala
    Jason Maxiell
    Sammy

    or

    Allen Iverson
    Andre Iguodala
    Wayne Simien
    Chris Webber
    Sammy

    Allen Iverson
    Andre Iguodala
    Fransico Garcia
    Chris Webber
    Sammy

any of the above would make me happy [IMG]

The team that picks Sean May is going to seriously regret its decision. Once he reaches the NBA, the team that picks him is going to make him get into shape. Without all of his excess body fat, he'll no longer be able to dominate. Actually, come to think of it, he wouldn't have been able to dominate anyway. The NBA isn't college basketball. In the pros, he won't be facing the same type of players. Everybody will be for real. Everybody will be able to compete. Everybody will dominate him.
