<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">There has been talk abroad that the Celtics are close in the hunt to sign free agent Sarunas Jasikevicius, but while the club is looking hard for a point guard, it's highly unlikely the Euroleague megastar will be landing here. The 29-year-old Jasikevicius went undrafted out of Maryland in 1998, returned to his native Lithuania and recently led Maccabi Tel Aviv to the 2005 Euroleague championship, picking up MVP honors along the way. </div> Source
This guy is probably one of the top five true point guards in the world, including the United States. This guy is clutch.
He's looking for 10 million over 3 years. I think that's worth it. I'd rank him above Daniels a notch, and he could be great for the team.
I admit to not knowing enough about this guy right now. I'll get back to you guys when I get more 411.
Here's a report in Hebrew: http://www.tam.co.il/1_7_2005/sport1.htm (at the bottom) Translated by orpolitzer11 at CelticBlog: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">saras doesnt have any brother that plays in israel.beno udrich has a brother that plays here-semo udrich. now-beno said that he knows that saras has signed in boston and he will play there. i can say also that larry bird said that indiana really want saras but they dont have enough money to bring him(not more than 3'000'000$ per year). now the only big options for saras are boston, cleveland and portland</div> I keep hearing that we have some SERIOUS interest in this guy. More proof that we're after him: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Sources close to the player told Italian Celtic Pride that the Boston Celtics have made a serious pitch to acquire lithuanian star Sarunas Jasikevicius. No further details were available, but the contract offer is rumored to be on multi-year basis and quite lucrative</div> http://celtics.playitusa.com/articoli/offe...-a-jasikevicius Here's a video that his team in Isreal put together: http://www.tzahevet.co.il/cmdb/video/the_clip/stay.wmv I guess they don't want him to leave.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Sir Desmond:</div><div class="quote_post">The proof is in the pudding.</div>Nah, I'd have to say that the proof would be in Saras signing his name to a contract. I'm not sure what delicious snack treats have to do with anything.
