<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">FORT MILL, S.C. -- Following his workout for the Charlotte Bobcats, North Carolina center Sean May said he thinks he's an NBA lottery pick and that he would love to play in Charlotte. "I think anywhere between nine and 15 is a fair estimate," May said. "There are 22 days left [before the draft]. I'm counting down the days until I know where I'm going." Charlotte picks fifth and 13th in the first round. "I told [the Bobcats], 'You have the fifth and 13th picks, two lottery picks, you've got to take one of us,' " said May, referring to Carolina teammates Raymond Felton, Marvin Williams and Rashad McCants. "I can't see it not happening. "I was trying to make a plug for myself. I think it would be good for the Bobcats to have a UNC player. It would give the fans someone to relate to. And what greater person to have besides me? I'd be willing to drop to 13 to come here." Bobcats head coach and general manager Bernie Bickerstaff said a player with a local tie would be great for his organization if the talent is there. "All things being equal, it's the intelligent thing to do," said Bickerstaff. Bickerstaff praised May for his shooting and rebounding abilities as well as his understanding of the game.</div> Source It would be interesting if the Bobcats drafted both Felton and May. Like Joe Dumars said, "You can never have too, many big men on your roster." With May backing up Okafor and/or Brezec the Bobcats can be confident in having a post up player off the bench.
Okafur and May would be a nasty frontcourt. And the whole thing about player ties is correct as well. I mean the people of North Carolina have been watching him for two or three (not sure), so they are bound to follow him in the pros.
dont be stupid Don't be stupid people, they aren't going to take May. They already have Prezbec and Okafor so they dont need may. Second they need a PG, SG and SF so there is no reason to select. Where would May get minutes? As a backup PF? You dont draft a guy in the lottery unless you think he can at least start of contribute someday and behind okafor he wont get that oppertunity.

Him and Okafor are capable of playing the 4 or 5. Also Okafor's back problems is always a concern so May at least provides some insurance in case either Okafor or Brezec is injured. The Bobcats have enough minutes to develop all 3 guys and will grab a larger fan base. If May shows his height isn't a factor in the NBA, he becomes a valuable piece to trade.
The Bobcats took a huge number of big men in the expansion draft, purely because good big men are harder to come by. May could turn out to be a great pick if his game translates to the NBA. They narrowed their list down to the Okafor and Brezec with Ely behind him, but stockpiling talent (as well as building a loyal fanbase), as what Shape said, is what the Bobcats should continue to be doing to have a successful franchise.
Charlotte needs someone who can come in and start right away at SG, not a backup PF. PG - Deron Williams SG - Rashad McCants SF - Gerald Wallace PF - Emeka Okafor C - Primoz Brezec ^That's the lineup I'm hoping for on opening night.
Draft May! Stack up the chips - you can never have too many bigs! As a new franchise, the Bobcats pretty much need everything still but PF. May could easily give a good 25 minutes off the bench. Don't tell me that the Cats wanna solidify the rest of their starting lineup with draft picks.. Come on, they're gonna haveta make some key free agent acquisitions down the road. So why not draft for depth in the frontcourt?

Charlotte will more than likely draft a PG with the 5th pick (Felton or Williams, doesn't matter, I like both) and a SG with the 13th (McCants hopefully). If you watched the Bobcats a lot last year (which I doubt you did), you could see that SG was a huge hole. We had about 5-7 different starters there, and Kareem Rush doesn't cut it. BTW, who said they can't make key FA aquisitions? Certainly not now, because nobody wants to come to Charlotte, but when they make the playoffs and start showing they are a solid franchise, they will lure FA's.
I watched whatever Bobcats games I could on dish (Why do you have to make a personal attack? lol). I know that they still need a lot of shiet. You think McCants could solve your problems at SG? I doubt it. Checkered past. Headcase. Me-first player. Sarcasm(Loved how big he showed up in the championship game). I hope the Bobcats ain't rolling that way. I'm just saying, you shouldn't hope for being able get all of your starters from the draft.

As for McCants, he is a talented athletic player who reminds me sort of Ben Gordon. The way he can shoot from the perimeter, and get into the lane slashing. Of course you shouldn't hope to be getting all of your starters through the draft, but the Bobcats are only going to into their second season, they really don't have that much of a chance getting talented palyers in Free Agency. When you have a player of Okafors caliber set at PF, and you are in the lottery, Sean May would not be the best decision at the 13th pick. Playoff teams are the ones who can afford to add depth at the same postition as their star(s).
