45th pick? i heard it was the only pic they got. they should try trading up or something, but good job to BK at aquiring another pic! now that we got the pick, who should we draft? on nba draft net, they say that we will draft salim stoudimire. any thoughts?
No actually now we only have one instead of none since the 60th one will being going to Detroit. I can't help but think that this thing of trading away future draft picks for future ones will only hurt us. I understand that this years draft is deep but is it really worth it? It might be the same situation next year. But now that we do have the 45th pick, we should start looking for a big man or powerforward. Rodney Rogers is becoming a free agent so it would be a good idea either get a big man and shift Jackson to powerforward, or just straight up draft a powerforward. Looking at this years draft, since there's kind of a drought of centers, I'm guessing King will workout some powerforwards. I would definitely take a look at David Lee. The guys a solid low post guy and has nice rebounding/boxing out skills. Plus, he's got the height for the league unlike some potential undersized powerforwards.

Nice good by Billy King on getting this pick and then giving it to Detroit. I say we go big here, I am high on a guy like Ronny Turiaf of Gonzaga if he is still on the board when we pick (unlikey) or maybe we take a chance on a guy like Sean Banks (though a guard/forward) who was a lottery pick without his attitude problems but now it seems like he will slip into the second round. It should be interesting how it plays out, Billy King really seems like he makes those good second round choices.
here's some players that could be available when the sixers draft, acording to nba draft net. http://nbadraft.net/profiles/salimstoudamire.asp http://nbadraft.net/profiles/davidlee.asp <a href="http://nbadraft.net/profiles/brandonbass.asp<a%20href="http:// %5burl%5dhttp://nbadraft.net/profiles/jawadwilliams.asp"%5dhttp://nbadraft.net/profiles/brandonbass.asp%5burl%5d %5burl%5dhttp://nbadraft.net/profiles/jawadwilliams.asp"%20target="_blank"> %5burl%5dhttp://nbadraft.net/profiles/jawadwilliams.asp" target="_blank">http://nbadraft.net/profiles/brandonbass.a...s/seanbanks.asp</a> http://nbadraft.net/profiles/louiswilliams.asp (another AI for the future?) surprisingly, nba draft net has sean banks going at #58 in the draft.
Surprising as you expected Banks to be higher or that he's even drafted at all? 58 sounds right to me. As for the Sixers trading the pick, it's what they had to do. It's better to get the deal settled now instead of later having to give up a second round pick to Detroit anyways. Just a matter of time until Philly have to give up a pick.
I don't understand why you would keep bringing up Salim Stoudemire. He has some major issues regarding attitude and work ethic during his college days. Plus, it was enough to get Iguodala out of Arizona so how would you expect Salim and Andre to mold together and develop chemistry? Sure, the guy has got some major skills, but the problem is we don't need him. I'm guessing Iverson's going to be handling point guard position for next year since everyone saw how nicely he handled it, with probably Iguodala going at shooting guard and Korver at the wing. So if we draft Stoudemire, who's going to have to be a point guard since he's too short, he won't be getting any minutes anyone because of Iverson. Just doesn't make sense to me. What Philadelphia needs for next season is either a guard forward that can at least shoot (to backup Korver) or a powerforward. We don't have a true backup powerforward other than Marc Jackson so I really want that to be adressed first.
I wouldn't mind a PG Daniel Ewing John Gilchrist a very interesting pick would be Louis Williams or Jawad Williams or Julius Hodge
I don't like this move, acquiring a pick is nice but couldn't we buy it? Prolly it's a pick from next season that we gave away and we won't have a pick at all next season,I hope that pick is used when we have like 4 picks in one draft. Sixers need to draft a PF/C or PF/SF (A guy who can play 2 positions when needed)

I wouldn't think this is the last move for us. You never know BK likes to wheel and deal only time will tell what he has going. I think this could be a good year to either go High School Player it looks like we might be able to pull something for any of these players....... CJ Miles Andrew Bynum Louis Williams All could be had with the correct moves and could fit well for us imo what do you guys think about taking one of those high school players with 45 or a move up into the 20-25 range
True^ If Nate Rob is still around by the #45 pick I think the 76ers should take him. We all know he isn't the tallest player around but he has talent that the 76ers are going to need in the future. Allen Iverson would be a great mentor to Robinson, plus everyone loves how he posterizes cats with that vertical of his. Any ways the 76ers main needs are a back up point guard and power forward, if either AI or Webber were to go down with an energy neither of those spots would be backed up with someone who can play with consistency.
now, i don't know if you guys have thought of this but, what do you think of us trading away the 45th pick along with aaron mckie for a lower pick? i mean, this would mean we probably won't get an as good of a player in the draft, but we would be able to unload mckie's huge contract, and we would have more money to resign our free agents and to sign some new free agents. just a thought. what do you all think?
