I am a huge Pistons fan. However, I think the Spurs are a more talented team.

But my question still stands.. Can the Pistons beat the Spurs?

I believe they can, but as I already stated they can't win on talent alone. These Pistons seem to have the "intangibles" going for them. You can never count them out.

When you start to think they are so far down a hole that they can't climb out, LOOK OUT, that is when they are most dangerous.

So San Antonio, you will get no argument out of me. Your team is more talented. This series will go 7 games and somehow the Pistons will prevail. Don't take offense, it will just happen and suddenly the series will be over.

May the best (but not necessarily most talented) team win!

I think the Pistons have a strong chance of beating the Spurs in the Finals. The Pistons are the defending champs and their ability to play strong interior defense and not have to double team will give the Spurs problems.

This should be a great match-up between arguably the best team from each conference. Both play a similar style of basketball, and they match-up very well.

Wow I cant wait for this series to start! I think it'll be legendary...

anyway, I think the Pistons will beat the Spurs in 7, simply because the Pistons have more consistency...Billups is more consistent than Parker, and I think Sheed will cause a lot of matchup problems for the Spurs' frontcourt...however, the Spurs will counter because they have more depth, and their go-to guy is a post threat, while the Pistons' go-to guys are perimeter guys, which are easier to stop...

either way, this will be a great series...I see no team winning by more than 6-8 points...

    Pistons in 7...

I'm picking a sweep in favour of the spurs. I think the Spurs have a better defence and a more talented offense, but i think it will be close each and every game.

I think the Spurs will beat the Pistons because they are a lot more deeper then they are. Barry, Horry, Beno Udith(sp?), Devin Brown, and Rasho are a better bench comaped to guys such as Antonio Mcdyess, Lindsay Hunter, and Campbell.

Duncan should play well but he is not going to be able to play soft, the Pistons are not the Suns they will not let Duncan have his way in the paint. Ginobili, head to head with Prince has the potential to be a good matchup. Bruce Bownen should do a good job on Hamilton as well. In the end I'm taking the Spurs in six.

this series is gonna be a tossup!! The backcourt matchups are the definitive measure of which team is gonna win! Parker & Ginobili vs Billups & Hamilton. Hamilton is gonna have to play some serious "D" If they decide he's gonna cover Ginobili.
Duncan & Mohammad is a better duo(IMO) than the Wallace Bros simply because Mohammad can do what Big Ben does almost as good. After the first game... we'll find out if this is gonna be a good series or not. On paper... it looks like a 7 game series.

Why can't they beat the Spurs? Of course they can beat them, but do I think they will? No, no I do not.

I don't agree that Mohammed can do Big Ben's job "almost as good". While Mohammed is a good offensive rebounder, okay shot blocker, and a better scorer than Ben, he's not near the rebounder of defensive presence Ben Wallace is.

Their is not intimidation in going against Nazr Mohammed, Tim Duncan gives then the edge in the interior matchup, but Nazr isn't close to Ben, Duncan is just a lot better than Rasheed.

Prince is supposed to guard Ginobili from what I've heard.

I see the Spurs winning this, but I will be hoping and cheering for the Pistons, simply because I hate the Spurs. Hopefully Big Ben can be a monster like last year and just break out with a lot of energy...Heres how things will look to me.

Chauncy vs Tony = Defensively, Chauncy will shut Tony down because he is much stronger, they are both as quick as one another tho..Chauncy is more consistent, and sometimes you dont even know Tony Parker is in the game, the way he is soo inconsistent. Chauncy will probably post up on Parker alot also, we seen him do it to Damon and Wade..He can definately post on Parker and shoot over him.

Ginoboli vs Tayshaun = I think Ginoboli will have a harder time getting to the rim, Tayshaun may block a couple of his shots cuz hes longer with longer arms..I expect Ginoboli to still get his numbers by going to the foul line..If Tayshaun can just be as quick and stay infront of Ginoboli..Tayshaun will be shutting him down. Offensively, Tayshaun will put up his 15+ a night, Ginoboli isnt long enough to stop Tayshauns jumper or 3..Also Tayshaun can rebound the ball on the offensive end over Manu.

Hamilton vs Bowen = I think Bowen will have a hard time gaurding Hamilton. Hamilton loves to run off of the screen and curl and run, and curl and run..Alot..Hamilton will only have about 15-20 points per game tho..I think Bowen can take him out of rhythm..Hamilton will have rested energy on the defensive end tho since Bowen can only stand and shoot the 3 from the corner.

Duncan vs Sheed = ...If i were Sheed i would take Duncan out of the paint on the offensive end so it will leave the paint wide open for guys to drive in. Defensively, Sheed will get frustrated and get a couple of Ts because i already know Duncan will keep getting him in foul trouble. I think Sheed can get alot of open looks, even tho Duncan is mobile i dont think he will go all the way out to the 3 point line to contest the shot, if he did he would open the paint up since Nazir will be the only one in there. Duncan will still get his 20+ tho.

Ben vs Nazir = Ben is smaller than Nazir, and Nazir is a decent defender, but i think if Ben Wallace explodes, he will own Nazir on the offensive end and get a couple of blocks defensively.

I think all the games are going to be low scoring, unless the Spurs want to run and gun like they did with the Suns..If they play that way, i think they will better their chances.

I find it ridiculous people are still not giving the Pistons a chance despite proving most of the world wrong yet again. They're the NBA champs, why can't they win?

If that was even close to being true then the Spurs would barely of lost a game in the playoffs. Nazr has been huge since the trade but he is not anywhere close to Ben Wallace's level.

The Spurs proved that they have plenty of offense in their last series and their defense is just a little worse than Detroit's. The Pistons can win but i dont see them doing that.

People had doubts abhout Pistons against Lakers last year, and had the same doubts against The Heat this last week.

I don't understand why they are always underdogs. I understand that against the Spurs, they finally play a playoff series where there is as much defensive intensity from their opponent as their is from their own. But they're the NBA Champs, and they CAN do it.

This will be a close one, and I don't see the Spurs as favourites. I think its an even contest.

Detroit has one of the most loudest and rowdiest crowds in the NBA. I have a strong feeling that with the help of that, and just the feel of being back home during the Finals, Detroit will make and just smell the coffee and get back to playing their Championship defense.

I don't think Detroit can win this series. Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker and Bruce Bowen have been on fire. Manu with his great play in the fourth quarter and acrobatic plays. Parker with his fast break and passing. Bruce Bowen with his shut down defense that has taken Tayshaun Prince out of this series. And of course, Tim Duncan has been playing great and won't let his team drop and 2-0 lead in this series. I think the Spurs have built a great team and I am very impressed in their depth and ability to blow out one of the best defense in the league, the Pistons.
